Baer Amplification Megathread!

My awesome wife let me have some time away from the kids to goof off for a little bit today, so I recorded some video of me playing my Fender CS '64 NOS through the Puma 900 and my ML212.
Obviously, it's a pretty crappy cell phone recording (I need to get me one of those fancy Zoom things!), but... I still think the sound on the vid is a decent representation of the punchy "thump and grind" (as I like to call it) that I can get from my ML212... even at the lower volume I used while recording.
As far as the video goes... I just finally started dedicating some time to using my Boomerang looper... and I'm kind of stuck in pentatonic land as a player (any suggestions to get out would be great)... but I was playing in C here to get a little practice playing outside of the keys I'm used to.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy it.

I have recently acquired two ml112's and much prefer the tone and weight of these compared to others. I can't wait to use the full 2 1x12 stack this weekend. Amazing work Roger.

I keep looking at that car, but diesel typically cost more than premium gasoline around these parts; diesel is >$4/gallon right now.

Its a bit more here too in CO (like 25-50 cents/gallon) but the mileage and fun of driving the diesel makes up for it. Living in a state with mountains is where you really learn to appreciate the torque of a diesel - these cars love climbing hills! Also, I really had a hard time finding a vehicle with the classic station wagon configuration - great for bass players!

Ah, yes. I remember puttering around in an underpowered '77 Datsun when I lived in Denver; could have used a diesel back then!

ML112 remains my first-call cab no matter which bass is out of the bag. From last night:

Sounds great Todd! Definitely one of the most musical jazz Cabs I've ever heard.
I take a lot of solo's in my Duo project where the sound landscape is very open and my sound is quite exposed. So I get to hear the tone of the bass and cab in great detail. It shines in these venue's.
What I like is no hint of low-mid wool and incredibly articulate mids and upper mids without any gank. That is actually a somewhat busy mix - keys and guitar are both comping a lot of the time. The bass is never fighting that sonically, nor is it working against the kick.
Man, thats it. There is ZERO upper-mid Gank the way some cabs exhibit. Yeah. I get it. Do you use the second ML112 much as a full stack? I keep thinking it would be great. I simply balk at the physical space the cabs would take in my vehicle since I also schlep some PA Gear, lights, guitar gear to gigs. many nights, I am a moving-man first, musician second. ya know? sigh.
For the jazz gigs I only use one cab, and never have FOH. I use the second cab when I gig with louder bands and sometimes for outdoor gigs (though a single cab does surprisingly well). It does make a difference for instance when I play with the Steely Dan tribute band. I need to cut a wider path with the bass there and make sure I'm driving the band. The second cab give about 4x the armadillos - I think it is a power function rather than linear. I did run the Baer/Berg stack at the last gig but I will likely run the Baer pair at the next one. I keep one of the ML112s in the car all the time. Not sure I'm going to keep the one CN112 I still have as it becomes a second haul and the last time I wanted to run really small I took a QSC K8 and that did fairly well (jam with acoustic guitar).
