IME the S15X-D doesn't "need" what the D12 brings to the table. I pair mine with a coax 1-10 (S10X-D) and it's party time. Almost every time out someone expresses amazement at my sound.

The S15-D/S15X-D combo works well but I even prefer my rig over that.

How did you have yours set up?

Ok guys, going to give it another try. Returned the 212 and getting the S15-D. I'll have to take back what I said about "sound to weight", but the size and convience is my main liking about the cabs. Originally, I was going to get the 2 15 setup after hearing one, but they only had 1 15 in stock and didn't want to wait for order, so took a 212 instead. So with the 2 15"s I should get that lowend, plus the Tecamp 1000 warms everything up too.

@Brad I had the 15X-d stacked on top of 212.

Usually takes me several gigs to start to really get the reference for a set-up. First I have to learn to tune it in, then use it in several different spaces. Heads are the hardest... basses are the easiest- I either like a bass right away or will never like it.

Anyhow, looking forward to diglo's review.

Based on what I've read on TB, I think I'm just abnormally lucky. It seems that the rare occurence is when I try something live that doesn't work great.

For my Bag End rig I put a Markbass Little Mark II on top, EQ zeroed, filters off, plugged in one of many good basses, adjust the gains and it's party time. Day in, day out.

I wouldn't say that you are lucky Brad (except for some of the great deals you've scored) but rather that you know what you're doing! No disrespect to anyone else. It's like when someone asked Luther Perkins, longtime guitarist for Johnny Cash, why he played the way he did as opposed to the fancy, all over the neck picking of other guitarists and Luther replied: "They're looking for it, but I've found it.":bassist:

Hey Playa's! Right now I decided to stick with my Glock setup. It was warmer to me. But, I did get to mess with a BE Powered 210. Hey! I gotta go back and try it out again. I actually like the sound of the powered 210 better than the powered and coax 15. it was pretty loud for a 210 also. To me, it depends on what bass you play. I played some that sounded to hard and some that was warm. Let ya'll know if I got the 210. Peace!

I have had the same experience.

I do fiddle with the VLE knob a bit, if I want to be a little more vintage, but that's it. Point and shoot.

My only problem is no gigs where I need BOTH of my S15 cabs. :(

Didn't like the Power 210. The powered stuff just seem loud and too sterlie. Doing a shootout between a Tecamp S210 and BE's two 15's, one being coax and the other one regular. Using my tecamp puma 500 & 1000. Will let you know!!

Sounds like you get a little more inherent lows with the Tecamp 212. Kind of what I'd like too, but I'm done gear-hunting for a while. I bottom-fed my way to my two S15-Ds, and got lucky!

I am, however, going to try an A.M.P. BH-420 head with the S15s this week. I'm reading that the A.M.P. and BE cabs might be very compatible as far as tone (both tend to be "punchy" as opposed to "bottomy").

Anyhow, nice little blog here of your shoot-out! Thanks for letting us in on it.

I'm confused! Played the BE 15X-D at church. At first seem like it wasn't doing anything, but knocked volume on amp up and adjusted bass and bam it was in there. I don't use a in-house monitor, so I need to rely on a good cab. Seem like it is more even tone than the tecamp too. The bags are easier to haul, but heavier than Tecamp cab. The bags are more versatile because you may only need one cab. With tec being one cab seem like it is easier to store, runninig out of room. I will have my mind made up tomorrow. Peace.
