How do they sound with a non-ELF amp? I saw his ad and got very interested until you spoke up first. Very cool and rare little cabs.

Excellent , I don't have much time on them but they have good highs and sound deep and thick for such a tiny cab . I'd say they are pretty full range without the ELF module though without a tweeter not as full range , for me it's better as I never really use a tweeter even if I have one .
Finally tracked down a S15X-D to accompany my S15-D. Bag End's are hard to come by here in Western Canada.

The Bag End / Tech21 combo is awesome, very versatile. I have 1 ch set up for smooth finger playing and ch 2 set up for more grindy / distortion finger playing. If I need to get that punky dug in pick sound I wind up the compressor.
I'm pretty happy with the set up. I play in your typical rock cover/bar band...nothing fancy, but lotsa fun!

I picked up a S15LX-D last week and am very pleased! As advertised, the tweeter is really smooth, the cabinet seems really full range to my uneducated ears. Some questions...
Is the tweeter dispersion pattern sensitive to setting the cabinet on end tall-wise instead of the standard horizontal positioning?
What is the "sweet spot" for these cabinets in terms of wattage? I've been playing it using my Baby Blue II amp which, although sweet, is not nearly enough.
Is #69 still available?

After all my griping/working out my amp issues, I've sold my SWR SM400 and picked up this TE AH250SMX head. This into the Bag-End S15D's is the sweetest-sounding rig I've played through/had yet. Punchy, but pleasantly musical.
The Squier pictured is gone, replaced with a Dillion VMB500 5-string (MM Stingray copy). The cabs are getting on quite well with the low-B string.

Just received a D12-D and S15X-D today. Running with a Tecamp Puma 1000. Currently have a Glockenklang Quattro 410. At first wasn't digging the BE's. But, after some volume adjustments on my Tecamp, I had it sounding like my Glock. And let me tell you, I think the world of my Glock. Also, I don't have to push EQ on bass hard either. I like module set up and space saving size of BE's (I don't own a truck/SUV). Only problem is hard finding a cheaper backup amp to push the mix ohm cabs at 2.6, if both needed. The tecamp pushes 2x500 at 4 ohms. Most cheaper amps run 1x500 at 4 ohms. Running BE at 8 and 4 ohms rquires an amp to run at 2.7. Man, I have an expensive hobby!!
Played BE's at church and another shootout at home. No disrepect to BE users, but the BE's are not for me. They are loud with tight bottom, but my Glock is warmer with fat round bottom. For my style of music, that works better for me. I love the light weight, but I've learned that "I can't compromise sound for weight."
I found a similar comparison between an Avatar 212 and the S15-D. Ended up with 2 of the S15-Ds though- practicality for the rigorous work thing. They are great for what I'm doing nowadays.
Which BE cabs did you play through? Some of the BE cabs like the S15-D's only go down to 50hz and those don't please my ears either. But the BE cabs that go to 40hz or below LOOK OUT!! Phenomenal tone!!

Probably so, but with all the cabs I've tried throughtout the years no matter how big or small one common thread I found with most of the cabs I like is that they go down to 40hz. If they go above that chances are I won't like it. The S15-D is a very good cab but I always found something missing in the tone. They only go down to 50hz.
