I'm wondering the same thing. I have an Aguilar TH500 I use with 2 DB112 cabs. I have a Q10X-D in storage and am tempted to see how they handle each other. I'm told the cab should handle it just fine. I only doubted because of the continuous rating. I wanted a more finite rating. Anyone try this combo?

Very true. TheS15D stack killed with my GK800RB - classic, great sounding rig, even by today's standards. I'd think the majority of 500 watt micros should slam really nicely with it.

I'm about as happy with my current rig as I have been with any other and these cabs a huge factor in that satisfaction. I've got a fully featured rig that I can throw over my shoulder and cabs that I can carry in each hand. Their tone is about perfect with eq flat. The other toys on my board just enhance it, but arent needed. However, I would like to use four s15d cabs outside with my big amp!

How are you liking the Carvin Power Amp.? I had one of their older power amps ....the 3 space DCM1500 abut 10 years ago. That one was great!

I tried my friends Fearful but it may be a little TOO much going on for the stuff that im doing now.. although i really liked it.. Just A bit too much low lows.. I know, I could EQ it out....
What i like about he BE S15 is its somewhere between ported and sealed. .in a weird way

Now that i have money in my pocket its burning a whole. and i cant find any D155s that are proceed they way i want to see them.. They are too much to buy new and i would never get my money back if i sold them. .
I want something that is an alternative to my Uber 115s that are based on a 3015 variant ... And something with a ceramic mag.. .

Like I said I had a S15D/S15XD stack years ago and loved it. Also at the time I put together a decent PA that was all Bag End stuff. The few times I had issues the guys at BE were super awesome, not quality issues but when stuff got dropped or abused and I needed parts. I have this romantic idea that I should have some sort of dual 15 set up although I certainly don't need it. At 38lbs each and front ported the Mesa's seem pretty attractive. The one draw back to the S15 and the rear port is they could be a bit finicky where you place them or if you are outside but the low end in most cases is so nice and tight.

I'd like to hear from users that have run a pair of BE 15 outdoors about how they sound/project.
Most of the acoustic engineer types argue that as long as the rear port air flow is not impeded by being jammed too close to a back wall, that port location does not matter.
I've heard it said that because of the location of the ports on the S15-D type cabs that some of the midrange also comes through the port which supposedly helps them sound more like a sealed cabinet & radiate the sound more like an omnidirectional cabinet.
Can someone speak to that & enlighten us?

I ran an S12 sitting on an S15 pushed by a 250 watt AMP back in the 90s. Played plenty of outdoor shows with zero issues in volume or tone.

I can't give a scientific explanation but my experience; placement was more important. Within the few feet of the back wall of a stage or in a corner produced more low end. Outside when not on a stage (nothing behind you) the cabs sounded wonderful but without PA support didn't project long distances as well. It was ideal outside with a good PA and it was ideal to bring one when stuffed in the corner in a smaller club. I also significantly preferred using 2 cabs with the XD on the floor, maybe more so then any other cabs i've owned 1+1=more then 2. Drummers always seemed to hear me better as well. I think I sold those cabs 7 or 8 years ago, so toss in a few grains of salt.

I too think about rear porting .. But so many people on this forum and some engineers say that PORTING "rear or front " makes No difference.. Im sure that if i had the time to go pull up posts from years ago . i would find some posts where people said that.
I have always thought that post positioning made a difference. Maybe it was just the air hitting my pants thru the port?:)
I'm not an engineer but i have been playing for CASH Money since 1974 so i've run the gamut on gear and changing gear trends . from Kustom 200s to SVTs to custom rigs with Crown and BGW Power amp and meyer cabs or Bag End cabs , to Commercial bass amps and Class D stuff back to this new search and almost where i started @ Bag Ends

Like i said, i had an old custom Bag End D15d-B.. the double 15 DEEP Birch cab.. It was very loud and full..

I would have to have a PAIR of s15. .I don't think that in my situation having simply one would due. ..

I saw one S15 in Austin for $160.. But its not stock.. I'm going to wait to find a few in decent condition..

I was always curious about the Bag End PA stuff. With their Time Aligned array..

Do you think a pair of your S15s can equal the overall output of your Berg 610?

My gut tells me that if you have a 2k watt power amp and push them both to their limit, the 610 Will hold up longer just because there are more drivers to carry the load. But, I actually prefer the tone and off axis response of the bag cabs. Also, they can go so damn loud that I don't even see the point in worrying about it. I thought about getting a 33rd just to get the sound closer to my ears but, it isn't really needed and I definitely don't need more volume. I've got a bag 15" driver that I plan to build a light weight cab for. Probably not until fall though. I've got a lot going on and only get on talk bass about twice a week now,

I had all three NVs at one point as well as the S15 stack, and it can definitely keep up. It will get stupid loud and you don't need a ton of watts to get there.
