Bag End Club.

Glad to see all the Bag End love! In some ways I find them punchier than my sealed cabs. And they growl in such a musical way - the low Xmax, high Xlim drivers plus the port design which lets more of the mids escape really gives them a unique and musical voicing - all bad on paper, but it really works and there's nothing else quite like them!

Chris I'm glad you are digging them - I was surprised when you flipped them so quick the first go round.

And for the record, I'm the one that pushed Chris to give them a go years back! ;)

Are there driver replacements that would allow MORE Low end extension yet keep all the other attributes already in the S15?
I Guess low Xmas means less bass?

Yes, I definitely have our to thank! I think that I originally flipped them because of all the sound coming out of the ports, compared to a sealed cab which is dead silent on the back. At the time I think that I was having feedback problems with my drummers mids and wanted to eliminate as much stage bleed as possible.

No, I think your best bet would be the S15L-D which is a custom size that sits between the normal cube and the big one. It's about the size of a typical 15. A couple folks on TB have them (or did).

I was looking at the dUg amp and the vt 1000, and the 500 caught my eye, and I thought the same thing, that a pair of bag end s15's are probably efficient enough to really get pretty huge with that amp...sounds awesome, too...I've got an eden wt-800c that I sort of like, but it's so flexible I hate to get rid of it...the problem is that I'm getting back into playing out, and like I said in PM, I'm using an ampeg pr-410hlf...it weighs like 150 pounds and all the low end comes out of the drivers and stains the carpet...it's pretty gross...I'm having to seriously evaluate my gear again...hauling that thing around totally sucks

The vt bass 500 has really impressed me so far. It sounds pretty much identical to the vtrm plus has the mid switch. Boosting at 500Hz fills in the range that the sansamp side scoops a little. It sounds beefier like the clean side, but with some harmonics. The bag ends are so sensitive, I don't see needing more power. The broughton filter allows the bags to sound even more sealed.

Here is the gig rig for my final few gigs before the band takes a much needed extended break. Power supply, digital wireless, modded lmb3, broughton crossover od, broughton bandpass, vt500. It just does it all, super light, electric rock, acoustic, in ear practise rig all in one.

If i were any good at carpentry,I would make a pair of S15s since i can't find any right now. They seem pretty easy... But i'd still have a lopsided box. I do many things well but making a square box is not of them.. Especially if i have to have nice dado joints ect..

"some" People seem to wish the S15 was a little deeper voiced ... I wonder what it would sound like if someone bily a pair but make it a perfect cube with equal sides instead of 15.5 on the depth dim? ... More like 18.5 x 18.5 x 18.5 with a

Have you looked at the Mesa subway 15?

Only the subway 12 and and i thought the 12 sounded REAL good...
I tend to like 15s when paired up... if they are tight on the bottom deep and fairly open on top.. I liked my OLD 80s bag ends but they were the Large cabs...
I tried my friends Fearful but it may be a little TOO much going on for the stuff that im doing now.. although i really liked it.. Just A bit too much low lows.. I know, I could EQ it out....
What i like about he BE S15 is its somewhere between ported and sealed. .in a weird way

Now that i have money in my pocket its burning a whole. and i cant find any D155s that are proceed they way i want to see them.. They are too much to buy new and i would never get my money back if i sold them. .
I want something that is an alternative to my Uber 115s that are based on a 3015 variant ... And something with a ceramic mag.. .

Well, you'd have a cabinet built to different dimensions and a different speaker with different parameters. It would be anybody's guess as to how it would sound. You could always custom order a S15L-D or an S15L-B. That would get you a touch more bottom.
