I'm not so sure (although I don't have money riding on either of those two horses in any race). RATM's view count on Yootoob dwarfs Nugent's, and nobody's bothered to do this with Stranglehold:

although it could be that, whereas 4:24 is amusing (in an admittedly juvenile way), it's more difficult to put an ironic take on having a stranglehold on your (ex) baby and crushing her face.

I liked the first album but wearing a Che shirt is no different to me than wearing the stars and bars.

And Zach de Larocha is what? A profit? Puhleeeze. There's some ignorance on display right there. Why is he ignorant? Because he doesn't think the same way you do? Thank you for proving my point. I don't think people who disagree with me are ignorant, just because we disagree. Maybe you should spend some time in rural America, open up your mind a little bit.

Nothing wrong with any country's flag; I do happen to think it's nuts that a person runs up the flag of England on St George's Day and idiots point and say, "Look, that must be a racist's house."
Unfortunately, that's what certain beyond-the-fringe unter-minority "parties" have done by wrapping a whole country's flag around their barmy ideas and claiming it's what we all stand for. Nobody beats the British for being ashamed of ourselves, and that's a shame.

My rule number 1 when I consider joining a band is "Never play a style which you don't like to play" (Is the most honest option for me and the other guys)...and my rule rule number 2 is related to the OP situation : Know your bandmates!!

I've my own political ideas and if they can clash with other bandmates ideas there are two options: 1/in a band environment (rehearsals,gigs,photoshots,interviews)everyone keeps his respective ideas for himself or 2/if it's impossible to keep separated polemic opinions from the bands' environment, and this makes me feel unconfortable, then leave . Once I threated with quitting because an homophobic drummer...

IMO a band can make a political statement if everyone in the band thinks the same way and all of them agree to do it... If it's not the case , the best option is to keep band's opinions inside the band...

Don't play with people who doesn't make you feel good...

If you hate people for their choices -exploiting other people, using guns for no particular reason, etc- you might be right, you might be wrong.
But if you hate people for things that were not their choice -race, sexual preferences, etc- then you are wrong: racist, sexist, etc.

Their ignorance befuddles me. Liberals tend to think they are better than everybody else. They are in some ways worse because they tend to stereotype based on race with an "I know it all" smirk on their face. Then they look confused when a Black person challenges them or calls them out on their assumptions. They'll gentrify an area and live in fear of the residents that have lived there for years. They'll complain about the crime, the shootings, the drugs, and forget the fact that no one invited them to move into The Hood, but they moved there because the property was cheap.

When I was doing a lot of photography, I've been in situations in the sticks where I got looks that said "WhereInTheHellDidYouComeFromAndHowDidYouFindUs???" But after getting to know the folks it wasn't so bad and I was treated kindly. On the other hand, I've been in situations in million dollar home areas where I got looks that said "WhereInTheHellDidYouComeFromAndHowDidYouFindUs???"... and I was so treated like that, until they discovered that I knew what I was doing (Rich people tend to only care about money and competence). And the reverse in both situations has happened. What really befuddles me, as a Black person, is when I'm treated like a second hand citizen by other African Americans, and it has happened more than I care to mention, and it always catches me off guard.

Ignorance is everywhere.

Look, this is about music, right? Im not trying to start anything but we obviously disagree on things , but that doesn't make either of us ignorant. Neither does coming from the country or the city. Ignorance is a lack of education.
Despite what you think, being from rural America, and holding conservative opinions does not make someone ignorant. Now! Can we please get back on track?

In most cases bands should avoid any demonstrable political opinions. Why risk alienating half of your potential audience? Maybe if you're an alternative band in Portland or an old style country band in the deep south you can get away it because of regional homogenization, but most of the time you run the risk of ticking people off. I don't like musicians posturing politically even when I agree with them and I'm sure I'm not alone in that sentiment.

I also wish everybody would take a deep breath and save it for the voting booth.
