Bands you can't stand but respect

Rush - I know it's considered blasphemy in some circles but I just cannot for the life of me enjoy Rush at all, despite the fact they ARE good musicians. The gushing mindless fanboy worship of this band REALLY annoys the hell out of me even more.
Dream Theater annoys the hell out of me but they are very accomplished as players.
Dave Matthews Band, excellent musicians but the music and Matthews mediocre voice just kills it for me.
Tool - good musicians but they just keep writing the SAME EXACT DAMNED SONG OVER AND OVER AGAIN! The only thing that annoys me more is THE MINDLESS GUSHING FANBOY thing.
Jeff Berlin - VERY technically accomplished, knows theory up the wazoo, but not only do I find his ego obnoxious, but his own music to me is just plain BORING!
Al DiMeola - see comments on Jeff Berlin. plus add the fact he feels like he has to play a bazillion notes a second ALL THE DAMNED TIME!!! I admit, Al sounded good in the confines of Return to Forever (Chick I think kept his worst excesses reigned in a bit), but outside of that, it's just more of the same "I can play faster than you Jack" BS. In many ways, I consider Al the first "shred guitarist", Yngvie (who I just cannot stand in ANY doses) sure took some cues from him.

#1 has to be Sublime. I think Eric is an amazing bass player, but seriously they didn't write anything. They ripped music off from everyone from Led Zeppelin to Dennis Brown.

I have NEVER EVER heard a band more boring and utterly bland as The Dead! One time I was grabbing some dinner on the way home from work some years back, and the pizza place I was in had a Grateful Dead dvd playing on the large plasma screen, I swear in minutes I was fighting off sleep.
This thread makes me happy. I am glad that other people do not like the Beatles. : )

As much as I like Never mind the b*ll*cks as an album, I could not respect the Sex Pistols, the only quote I like from them was when Steve Jones said `the only difference between us and the Beatles is soap and water`very funny and antagonistic LOL, the pistols were Malcolm McClarens publicity tool and not a real band .
The Beatles, I am on the fence with them, IMHO they are overrated, there were equally good bands from that era and they were not the creators of modern popular music as many would have you believe, they played a part yes, but others did too .

They just don't do anything for me. I feel like they took old blues and soul and just "whitened" it up for the masses. I do appreciate all the inspiration and musical culture they brought to the world though.

Er, I think this is called inventing modern pop/rock music. That aside, they really weren't up to much, obviously.
Otherwise, as usual, I am with The Owl on every particular.
It's not a big group, but it grew since I joined..

Bela Fleck and the Flecktones... great musicians, but listening to their music makes me angry at the pretentiousness... maybe that's me.
I completely understrand why some groups like Rush and Dream Theatre have come up repeatedly on this thread, but they've at least done a few things that I consider to be awesome.
When I saw the subject of the thread, one name immediately came burning into my consciousness, a group with impressive musicianship, clever multilingual lyrics, and in-your-face attitude, of whom I borrowed or bought at least 3 albums expecting to find at least a big a vein of coolness as I found with, say, Rush, but whose performances drive me up the wall with complete consistency:

top of my list has to be Led Zeppelin... and i really want to like them. I just cant stand Plants voice! (and i tend to enjoy singers with distinctive voices...)
