Bands you can't stand but respect

As for my "can't stand but respect" list:

Styx. - Ugh. Great musicians but I find their songs to be absolutely annoying (and I enjoy prog rock!)
Cake. - I recognize there is talent in that band, but every song I've heard I've absolutely hated, except for "Stickshifts and Safetybelts." I do enjoy that one song.

The Beatles - Yet, early (1970's) solo Harrison and Starr sounds great to me. Lennon was too pretentious and McCartney sounds too campy. Sorry, it's just my opinion.

Billy Joel

In the no respect category,
Coldplay - A U2 ripoff band if I ever heard one. Plus, all their songs are so predictable.

I completely agree on both.

Another one for me is U2. I just never could get into their music. Nothing but respect for them though.

The Beatles... My guitar player and I argue about this topic all the time. Our drummer loves the Beatles and thinks the world of them. I on the other hand just can't get into their music. I respect McArtney and consider him a very good bass player. I don't personally play the way he does but I can see how what he did worked very well for the music the Beatles were playing. Our guitarist argues that because he thinks the Beatles music sucks that that means they suck as musicians. I have the hardest time (he is also the frontman and has an ego the size of Geddy's nose) explaining to him that had we grown up when the Beatles were changing the world that we wouldn't have known the music we enjoy today and may have totally gotten what it is the Beatles are doing. Not enjoying a band shouldn't hold any weight for their abilities as song writers and musicians. The Beatles clearly wrote amazing songs. Sucky songs don't stick around for 40 plus years.

Same here in Atlanta and something just doesn't seem right... everyone bitches about how much airplay they get, but Project 9-6-1 seems to play them every 30 minutes.....

That piano guy (i forget his name), who sings on all the Disney/Pixar movies. War..how does a low rider sit a little higher? Oh, and all the new jazz guys who take an existing song, remove the vocals, then replay the vocals syllable for syllable on their instrument. What was the question again?

The guy from Coheed and cambria is a big Geddy Lee fan isn't he? I was told that he trys to emulate Geddies voice at times
