Bands you can't stand but respect

I agree with the OP of the thread that was the inspiration for this one. I really haven't dug anything Pearl Jam released after Ten and I usually think Vedder's too pretentious for his own good, but I do respect that they've stuck to just doing their thing. I also agree that it's cool when Green Day brings someone up to jam with them like it's no big thing, but I've always been a pretty big Green Day fan. :D

Really, in this day and age, I respect any band that kicks ass when they play live. Too many bands nowadays hide behind studio magic and the genius of their producers but suck when it's time to hit the stage.

the following opinion is not my own, but my brother can't stand Rush for the same reason, he respects their musicianship but can't stand Geddy's voice...I for one like Rush

I can't stand Geddy's voice either, its something about it that's too simple to me (doesn't help that I first thought he was a ugly woman!), same thing with Bob Dylan's voice. Maybe its the way they sound in the studio, but when I want to hear someone sing I want to hear some amount of passion in their voice; that they put blood, sweat, and tears into their work.

Next up, I just want to kick Ozzy in the throat. I prefer RJD heavily in Sabbath over Ozzy any day. I'll always love War Pigs though... Also pertaining to Metal, I gotta be honest, I hate pretty much everything about Metallica even though I listen to them almost everyday. I highly respect the musicianship but I hate James, Lars, and Kirk with a passion. However, Cliff was cool as hell and I hold him in the highest regard, I've got nothing but respect for Jason as a man and bassist, and Rob is just one great human being.

Lastly, but not least, while I love Soundgarden, Chris Cornell's voice puts me to sleep; just bores the hell out of me.

So here's my list:
Rush
Bob Dylan
Ozzy
Metallica
Soundgarden
...Oh yeah, Dream Theater...

Dream Theater (of course)
Stanley Clarke (never quite made the conection)
Michael Jackson (gotta give props)
Madonna (she was a marketing genius)
Rush (from Moving Pictures on. saw them 7 times before that)
Wham (love the bass playing)
Grateful Dead (never wanted to be a part of that crowd :) )

And many many 80s bands.

my brother's the same way. he also says the same thing about coheed and cambria. of course, he has also gone on record saying that he would love to see either band play live because he likes the musicianship of both bands.

Queen - easily one of the best ever bands, without doubt, but apart from their very early stuff, I would not say I cant stand them but they do nothing for me .

Metallica

Over indulgent bands, bands who are mega talented whose songs are far too long, bands with high pitched male singers .
