Bands you don't particularily like

For me it's been Frank Zappa ever since the guitarist for the band I was in in college played me his song "Why Does It Hurt When I Pee?" and held the staunch ideal that anyone who listened to anything but Zappa wasn't a proper musician.
I absolutely realize Zappa was a musical savant, I just couldn't get into his work.

I'm fascinated with any band that figures out a way for a lot of people to hear and buy their music.
There's a lot of bands I'm not familiar with and some I'm just too old to understand.

I wish I could be a Red Hot Chilli Peppers fan. I love to watch Flea play bass, but I can't stand their music. I feel the same way about Yes.
Ozzy Osbourne

I actually start yelling, "NO IT'S NOT!" at my radio when the DJ on Sirius/XM's The Bone Yard tells me I'm listening to "Ozzy's Bone Yard". I really, seriously think we've had more than enough of him and Sharon.

Pretty much any rock and roll band that came out later than 1980, including all thrash, hair metal, metal, speed metal, alternative, post-punk, rap, hip-hop, or actually ANY music post 1980 that isn't the Dixie Chicks.
Talkbass is a forum where we can talk about anything we want to. If that's bands we don't like, then let it be.
Back on topic, (I'm sure I'll get hate for this,) I don't really like Jaco and Weather Report. They're all fabulous musicians, and Jaco did absolute wonders for the bass as an instrument, but I don't like the music. Please don't kill me...

For me there are two bands that just make me want to stick nails in my ears.
Lynyrd Skynyrd, even considering they were/are a bunch of southern trailer trash, the music is just so damn bad.
Rush, absolutely hate their pretentious noodling. And I fully expect to get flamed by all the little prepubescent fanboys.

The Who... I don't get the Entwistle fan boy-ism that goes on here. If Entwistle had never existed, and someone posted a sound clip playing the exact same notes and technique as Entwistle would've, they'd get torn to shreds for not playing enough root notes. I just haven't heard anything that is super impressive. The rest of The Who is equally as overrated imo as well. Keith Moon one of the greatest drummers ever? Please.
