Setup at our last gig.

Using this Rig, works the best. Great tone but not overpowering. Was running a 15/6 along with this setup before but was too much.

I'm just gonna say this, then go. 4x12's is not a bar rig. No one seems to care about posting REAL bar rigs. This thread has become an excuse to post any photo of any rig you have that you like.

Well my post, #221 is a 4x12 rig and the photo was taken at the gig. Just because I have a 4x12 rig doesn't mean it has to be stupid loud! I could do without the second cabinet and sometimes I don't bring it. But I do prefer having both to get speakers closer to my ear level since I am 6'3".

All I'm going to say is I have posted no pictures on this thread and I play 4 12's at bars a lot. 4 12's and 4 10's. Matter of fact I just used 2 TCE K212's this past Friday and I've seen many bands use 810's at a bar. Just because 1 person doesn't, does not mean no one else does. Everyone is different and 1 persons real bar rig may be anothers not enough or too much.;)
I used to use 4 15's at bars. Then used 115 a lot. Then now 212. Any amp can be turned down if need be.

But some can't go up more. .. I feel ya
Bar. 100+ ppl.

Only once have I ever had the problem of "can't go up more". I had a Peavey 200 power amp with a Peavey Pre into 215 cab. The sound was fine but a bit not loud enough. After that I vowed never to have a rig that I didn't have to turn down - and haven't since. For a while I ran 1800 watts, then 900, now 800.

Nice looking rig you have - I will always have a place for a pair of 15's even though I now go to 12's when I have to lift them.

This rig is perfect for the small bar gigs typical in the NYC suburbs. One trip from the car. GK MB-200 (sitting on top of guitarist's Tech 21) driving a Barefaced Super Compact (with cheat sheets on top). All together, the head, cabinet and cables weigh about 25 lbs. The sound is perfection.

For context: the bar, and singer Jim ("would ya take the picture already").

here is my latest little bar rig. i just got this old GK 200RCB for $50 and it's an awesome little head. it's a 1989 Series II and it sounds wonderful. the cab is an old Hartke transporter that i completely gutted and put in a couple of eminence neos. i gave it the duratex treatment and now it's a 4 ohm cab so it gets all of the GK's 100 watts. i really did not expect the amp to be that loud for only 100 watts, but it really is loud enough for my rockabilly gigs. super light and waaaaay cool! :)

Playing through a thoughtful moment apparently. My bar rig (normally 200-500 people).

Crown Power Bass 2
Ampeg SVP Pro preamp
Trace Elliot (backup preamp)
DBX crossover
Alesis 3630 dual compressor
Alesis Midiverb IV (effects)
SWR Goliath III (top cabinet)
SWR Son of Bertha (bottom cabinet)
Geddy Lee Jazz Bass (normal tuning)
Fender Jazz Bass Plus (drop tuning)
Sans Amp bass driver DI (not shown)

The top cabinet is crossed over above 100 hz. and the bottom cabinet is crossed over below 100 Hz. I use one side of the compressor for each cabinet separately. I send a modified signal through the Sans Amp to the FOH so they can't just take a flat signal without my tweaks and effects etc. I constantly have sound guys tell me how great my tone is

I've been using my Ampeg B25B head and cabinet almost exclusively for some time. It's a 55-watt, all-tube amp with a 2x15 cabinet loaded with Altec-Lansing 421A's. My guitarist LOVES this set-up. He calls it my "seventies rig" because of how it sounds. I remind him every time that it's actually a sixties rig (1969). I get by with this little power when I'm indoors in a tiny space or have the bass in a proper PA with subs and all. We played an outdoor venue last night and were using my little PA which is a powered mixer, two 12" mains and a couple of wedges - so no PA support. I took the B25B rig but realized immediately at sound check it was not going to cut it. So I grabbed this rig instead. An early Magnavox-era ('73, I think) V4B and an early SLM-era SVT-118E. Totally did the trick and sounded soooooo good.
