Barber Ltd SR VS Silver?

I had a Silver for awhile...note the 'had'. It just didn't do it for me; I could not find a happy medium between 'not enough' and 'way too much.'

I built one (Dave Barber posted the schematics some time ago). It sounds quite nice, but goes more in the "tube screamer" direction (=hi mid heavey) than the SR I think. Holds the bass quite nice, but loses low end.

how can it hold the bass nice but lose low end?

I had the Silver for several years. It was great for subtle grit and grind. It does have very present upper mids (around 1k) which some may find "ganky." There is a slight low end rolloff below 60hz, but it is not very noticeable and easily remedied (I ran the Linden after the LTD Silver to boost around 80-100hz. There is an internal trimmer for the low end and presence, FWIW.

It loses some low end but not as much as say a normal tube screamer or a boss ds-1. (See Mr. Pickles' post.)

Yes it does, I had one and really did not like it. Very honky sounding, and no matter what I did I could not EQ it out. Also the only way to get back some of the low end was to roll back the tone knob on the pedal, when you do that though it cuts the high end. There was no happy medium with it. In my opinion there are much better OD pedals out there.
