The way things are looking I'm either going to have to get one of those or get a bigger board, my pedaltrain pro is about maxed out.

The size clinches it. I'm getting one for sure. I've been wanting a second blend loop anyway and was just about to pull the trigger on one of the Radial models (to go with my Xotic), but it looks like Barge has one-upped them finally.
My VB-jr showed up last week. Man, I really regret not getting those switches (didn't really know about them at the time). There's a definite "warble" when I pair it up with my big muff and it's especially obvious when soloed - it's no so bad in the mix.

I take it that the expression out and phase inversion switch are options you add after purchase? I just checked out the website and eBay store and can't find the exact item.

They do a lot of custom work. I've been trading emails with Geoff about doing a custom VFB-2 with two different blend switches and their vari-Z circuit. They're very open to doing mods.

Simply put whenever you are combining two signals (like in a blend pedal) there is the chance that the signals will be out of phase which causes some frequency cancellation. The switch will mitigate/alleviate that problem.

(With apologies for being dense)... why would I want to invert the phase. I ask because I'm about to pull the trigger on the VB-Jr and would add phase inversion, if I knew why I would want to do that.

Constructive and destructive interference. You don't want destructive interference with your effects.
Certain pedals will create the need. You'll know when the wet signal from the pedal and the clean from the VB-jr are out of phase. The frequency cancellation is very obvious from the sound and the fact that the volume is much louder (assuming the pedal is a unity) at either extreme of the blend (100% wet or 100% dry) then it is with a 50/50 blend.
Personally, I've only had this happen once (and with a pedal that wasn't mine - an old wah pedal) and at the time I was using the Xotic Xblender that has an phase inversion switch and it fixed it right away.
Personally I don't think you need to bother with it, but it wouldn't hurt to have it if it's a cheap option.

I really only got rid of mine since I got the TLSF and I quasi-bi-amp anyways. The 4 channel mixer allows me to boost the levels of the 2 channels if need be, without needing another pedal or 2. Even if I used it to mix 50/50 like I do right now, I'd still need a boost after the barge since both signals would get cut by 50% because of the way the blend pot works (AFAIK/IME).
Still a cool pedal, but I would have to take up more space to have used it to my liking
