Bartolini PJs with Sadowsky preamp?

I recently acquired an Elrick 5'er that's a temporary (perhaps permanent) solution to my Sadowsky gas. Okay, it's not a Sadowsky, but it's a bolt-on, ash body, maple neck and board, 34", lightweight; a lot of the qualities fueling my Sad-gas in the first place.

The current pickups are passive Bartolini PJ, and I'd like to add some active electronics. My first instinct is OBP-3, my favorite on-board pre, but I've already got a bass with one of these. So then I started thinking of going Sadowsky with a VTC. I don't think I've ever seen (or heard) a Sadowsky with Bart pickups. Has anyone had experience with this pairing? I'm curious how well they would match up. Thanks

I bought an older sadowsky pj where the original owner had replaced the pups with barts and I love it! Its a little bit more refined than my sadowsky modern but its one of my go to bassess. In fact I find the VTC works better with the barts than the sado or even nordy pups!

My first Sadowsky (an older Standard 5) came with Barts, which I think were original. They sounded great with the Sadowsky preamp. It seemed like a good pairing to me, since the slightly modern scooped sound that came from boosting the Sadowsky EQ was a good offset to the darker, more midrange-y Barts.
