I would encourage you steer away from more expensive cable designs that combine proprietary designs and custom manufactured parts. No benefit. All three times I have tried fancy boutique crap, I have experienced failures- yes, I know that some of them carry a replacement warranty, but I have a low tolerance for that on a gig. The most reliable cables I have owned are the ones that I have assembled.
Neutrik, Switchcraft and Amphenol have solid connector designs. If a company assembles with these connectors and Mogami, Canare, etc. cables, and the solder joints look good, you’re going to be happy with them for a long time. For a “budget” cable with good components, The World’s Best Cables brand looks like a solid choice. Spend less!

what makes you think this is true or that $150 cables are not a snake oil scam?
Pricing out components for my builds, it's around $40-$50 for the Neutrik connectors, the Mogami cable and Tech Flex to make a 20' cable. Sire, I'm buying in small quantities, but I have no overhead of a business and I'm not including solder and expendables, my time, etc. If I had a business, those cables would have to be shipped to a wholesaler, marked up and then to a retailer who is going to mark them up again. So, cables that I build for $50 in parts are equivalent to the $150 cables on Sweetwater. I mad no claims to sonic bliss, so I'm not trying to sell snake oil. Or cables.

$150 cables (and the very concept) are simply absurd, good grief what it the world coming to.
I'll see your head-shaking consternation regarding boutique magic cables and raise you.....

I like the 3 grand power cable as well. Because the miles of cable between your wall and the power company magically disappear...
Oh, my friend....you obviously don't understand how electricity really works, don't have a system capable and worthy enough to resolve the differences obvious in a true high quality power cable, and an ear trained by the great mentors in the industry. You see, what's important is the quality of the path the electrons inhabit closest to the component, enhanced by this lovely cable. This is AC power....the electrons simply nudge each other back and forth, rather than flowing in a stream through the cable, and this cable keeps the nudging rhythmic, time-aligned, and enhanced in a way that simply allows a more extended soundstage, air around every instrument, and a musical pace and slam orders of magnitude above what can be achieved by regular wire of appropriate gauge.
I wouldn't expect common folks to understand.

I highly suggest NOT to purchase ANY Monster instrument cables!! Even less the specific BASS cable. It will damage your jack. Secondly, the connectors are 'soldered' and not screwed in to the connector. The soldering will fail causing intermittent dropouts.
Just my experienced opinion.
P.S. The Mogami brand cables are awesome. I own those too.

Oh, right…. reality. Sorry, I got swept away by marketing. I make my own cables if I need a specific length. I use either Switchcraft or Neutrik connectors (I don’t have a preference) and either Mogami or Canare cable (I don’t have a preference). They work. They sound good.
Over the years I’ve bought an assortment of premade cables of decent quality: Spectraflex, DiMarzio, ProCo, Whirlwind, Conquest, etc…. They all work. They all sound good. I never buy any cables with molded connectors.
I once bought two cheap two-packs of Fender branded braided cables that sounded terrible and were microphonic as hell. Lesson learned and the only bad cable experience I’ve ever had.

Did you just make comments on the cables, or did you first do a statistically valid test to see if you could hear a difference at all? This means having your friend swap randomly between two cables a minimum of 10 times (20 is better) and you saying which you think is which. If you get it right fewer than 9 times out of 10, you can't claim to be able to hear a difference at all. In which case the subjective impressions of the differences are meaningless.
This is the only way to do it. And my strong skepticism comes from looking at results from many listening tests that were designed this way. No one ever hears the difference between audio cables, unless there's something bizarre about the design (deliberately high capacitance, or a weird design by audiophile companies like Audioquest, that include a mysterious active box at one end of the cable).
Boy did I laugh my @$$ off back when Victor Wooten was hawking those instrument and power cables!!
Most cables will suffice. I do not like cables that are soldered though. I was ready to replace my speaker cabs until I found out it was those dang Monster Cables! I no longer own the bass that their BASS Cable damaged the jack!

This is all you need to know. Don't spend the money on Monster. Not only is it hype, but I have repeatedly heard that their cable ends are often oversize and can damage the jacks in guitars and basses. All you need is decent quality cable and good solder connections to the connectors. You can buy cables at any Guitar Center or mail or a place like Sweetwater.
Whenever I need to get anything I just get the ProCo's from Sweetwater.

Nothing beats the clarity of the signal when you use the $3,000 power cord and $1,300 worth of those cable supports.
You can really hear the clarity of a guitar going through a Tube Screamer AND a Heavy Metal pedal into a JCM800 with the dials maxed out.
Even better if the JCM800 goes into a cab using the old method of cutting the speaker cones for some awesome distortion.

Your cable looks a little twisted, it should arc smoothly. The over-under method of cable winding is good to use. Stress on a cable can open the shielding braid and let noise in.
I use both Mogami and Canare instrument and XLR cables that I make. Both are good. No need for voo-doo products.
As this is a discussion of cables, and making one's own cables...
Is there anyone out there who recycles dead cables? Seems to me it's usually the jack connection that fails, which would leave 12-20 feet of usable wire that could make a serviceable new cable.
Or someone who will bring dead cables back to life for a reasonable charge?
I've tried to solder. I was not successful.
