Bass Cabs under $700ish

I've got an Ampeg SVT 4 Pro, and it's too much power for my little old 410. No headroom and I want to be able to go mono bridged without fear of pushing it too hard.

Got a baby on the way so my budget is limited on this one, otherwise I'd be going with a SVT 810AV. But, I gotta be responsible right now so I'm looking for something in the $600-700 range.

I'm a big Traynor fan so I'm really interested in the TC808 (Traynor Amps: Bass Extension Cabinets)

and the TC1510 (Traynor Amps: Bass Extension Cabinets)

but if anyone has any suggestions on something else that's good power/sound for the money, I'd love to hear it.

Not so much in smalltown Canada, haha. Also, anything I could order online usually costs as much or more in shipping to get it here, so I'm kinda limited to what my local shop can order in.

How much room for and how much experience do you have with DIY stuff? I know I'm offering up the Kool-aid, but a fEARful 15/6 would do that head justice, and give you a lot of bang for your buck if you can build it yourself.

P.S. Oh and if thats not enough add a 15sub after you have taken care of immediate responsibilities with that new baby, congratulations BTW. A 15/6 + 15sub will let you conquer your enemies, defeat dragons and impress the womens... :D

In all seriousness the double 15 fEARful rig is considered by some here on TB to be the king of the heap.

Why "just no" on the 1510? I've played through one before and was impressed, although it wasn't through my head. As for DIY - I don't have much experience with electronics, but the bigger challenge is finding the time to work on it. I can barely work in the jam sessions as it is, haha.

There is a lot of info on why mixing full range drivers isnt the best idea. Thats not to say it cant work, but there are better options especially if you are going new. I dont know if that cab uses some kind of cross over to split highs and lows, but if it does you dont need two 10" speakers for one 15" speaker, it would be out of balance. If you are looking at wanting smaller cabs for modularity and dont want to build your own (even though precut flat pack kits make it fast and easy) then I would recommend finding a single 115 cab that you like the sound of. Once you find a single 115 that does it for you tone wise get a second and stack them vertically. Some people will point you towards 210 cabs stacked vertically and that is a great option if you have a newfangled micro head, but I wouldnt perch your head on that kind of stack.

$666.73 as I configured it with a prebuilt crossover, big handles and no tweeter. Sits in your budget, and here is the kicker with these cabs: With the right power application this will be as loud as a 610 in a lighter, smaller package that can go lower and will have better sound dispersion.

I used to have a 4/10, but I was surprised how much volume, and headroom I gained when I switched to a fEarful. Aside from being a well designed cab, I think the biggest gain I made has more to do with cancellation issues in a 4/10. If you've not compared a different cab, you don't know what you're missing. You might try a full range PA style cab, just to get an idea of the difference I'm referring to. A good PA cab is similar to a fEarful. The fEarful was just designed (and very well I might add) specifically for bass guitar use, by a bass player.

Also a lot of the fEARful crowd say "its the last cab you will ever buy..." and that is true in a sense. I know I dont need more cab, but I GAS for more fEARfuls.
