Bass Distortion pedals you'd recommend?

I use many overdrives and fuzz pedals. Some distortions I use are..
Darkglass x
Walrus Eras
Dead fx ETR
Darkglass ADAM
These will do great dirt/overdrive tones as well. The quest for fuzz is Neverending but I've settled on a few for now

Here just arrive a darkglas b7k ultra v2 let see... . I also use a Clon of King of tone that works perfectly i am leaving my hx stomp to a full analog board

As mentioned by others the DG B7KU covers a ton of ground with its switching. It's the only drive pedal I have on my board

Haven’t seen any mention of it yet, but the EAE Longsword has been my distortion of choice for a while now - the most versatile dirt I’ve ever played - a ton of unique great sounds.

I go over to my wife's gig box and "borrow" her '70s ProCo Rat. Gets REALLY fuzzy fast. Just takes a touch.
In the '80s used a lil' red MRX Dist stomp that was really distorted yet warm, but lost it along the way. Was a GREAT box.

I haven't read through the whole thread, but my likes depend on the basses I'm playing. My Stingray is one bright bass, so I tend to lean towards the MBD-1. It fattens it up and tones down the treble side quite a bit. My Ric's really love the Reinier Gasoline OD and the Darkglass Vintage Ultra which covers a lot of ground as far as dirt is concerned. My other favorite is the Broughton Calamity. It's a fuzz but it also covers a ton of ground and sounds absolutely massive. Lots of choices.

Having several choices now with the C4, DCX Bass, ReVolt Tube Bass Preamp and OPUS (IR amp/power).

I did stumble on a small MOOER pedal - FOG Bass

Zvex Wolly Mammoth clone...

(Needs passive Bass and a first in chain location, too.)

This one sounds interesting.



Released yesterday by NRG Effects. Started as a ProCo Rat inspired pedal it seems. Low-end remains untouched in most settings, and looks like there's quite a wide range of beautiful tones in there. Does the RAT high-mids forward clean-ish thing, but also got nice warm overdrive tones, distortion and roaring fuzzstortion in spades. Being able to have 2 of them thanks to the 2-channel design is quite awesome. Pedal runs at 9V, not sure it's modfied/doubled internally but suggests it might find its spot early in the signal-chain.

Anyway, dug what i heard and took the plunge.

My favorites:

Tech 21 DP-3X (dUg Pinnick) - highly colorful
Darkglass B7Kv2 - has that modern Darkglass vibe; I run it at low gain more for tone shaping than dirt
Idiotbox Blower Box - RAT-style, I currently use the Deluxe version that has a clean channel with variable lowpass filter
Tech 21 SH-1 (Steve Harris) - two switchable drive levels; versatile: definitely isn't just for metal
Master Effects Super 300 - SVT sim

Honorable mention to the Origin BassRig Super Vintage (another SVT sim). The main reason it isn't listed higher is that I keep it mostly clean, for super-subtle tube richness. Also, it's super-expensive.

I've wanted to try a Blower Box for years but $40 shipping (int.) on a $120 pedal always turns me off. Maybe someday.

The distortion I use changes and evolves so anything I post now will probably be different in 6 months. This the unapologetic list of the pedals I've used in the last 2 or 3 years.

Right now I'm using the Bass Blaster, which to me sounds amazing.

I'm also using the STO, which I believe is Noble based. I like it better than other Way Huge, including the Pork&Pickle. It's also very affordable.

The old TC Vintage Bass distortion is a sleeper, it's a great pedal to have around for emergencies or to add some variation.

I have a Blower Box and like it, but find it lacks "cut", lacks "top".

I have the Disnortion onna guitar board; it's very cool but very tweaky with tons of sounds that I sometimes have a hard time getting dialed in.

FWIW, I have 14 of the above-named, non-bolded pedals - I may not be quite the addict triviani is (we won't talk about those he doesn't name - but do check out for example the Ashdown Double-Shot - or my guitar dirt).

Of the bolded, I have the Belle onna board that I use for bass and guitar, and it's outstandingly useful for each, a very nice cleanish drive as I use it; the T-Rex Bass Juice is one of my faves, the only downside being it's size.

I also switch 'em out a lot, am currently checking out a Killface (again, lacks top), a CMC Civil War Muff (the switchless because my switch one is on my current guitar board - ver' cool) and a B3K (tweaky and kinda baked-in - I prefer the Vintage Microtubes).

I can strongly reco the EQD Westwood (so flexible, but never unusable) and, inna surprise to me, the TC Tube Pilot sounds great through my living room Rumble (I also like it into small tube guitar amps - I'll further note I have a fair number of tube pedals, the Pilot's simplicity is attractive for getting some push and a bit o' hair, the lack of a tone control I see as a feature).

Yeah, these are great, and well under the $2-300 some boutiques sell for these days.
I read somewhere that the Bass Juice and the TC vintage distortion where the same pedal, but they sounded different to me.
The extra boost is a nice touch, and they have top jacks. An issue for me with Jam Pedals is that both switches are close and not so easy to operate.
