I Like the idea of using a head and cabinet but I hate the fact that the knobs are in front. now days cabs are close to the ground like my GR Bass 112h. And its very hard to look at the dials on the amp as i have to lift the amp to look at them. Does anyone make a amp with the Controls on top like combos do?

I always like to lift my cabs off the floor so the amp on top is at least at chest height. It improves my stage sound because I can use the ears at the side of my head instead of those in my ankles ;*) and visibility/usability improves a lot.

A chair, milkcrate, my toolbox with cables or an ampstand will do nicely.
Done that too, and it works. Borrowed this 13" H stool from the wife. I ordered a 17.5" H in black which will work & look even better.

No never!! You lose to much Bass that way.
Nope, that’s more of a perception thing because you are hearing the mids more clearly.

minimal. and you can hear your tone so much better that way.
Correct, much of this is perception rather than reality. When you are far enough off axis, you loose the mids on up which makes it appear that you have more bass (but you really don’t.
