Ah man. I LOVE playin that song lol. Simple yes but, for me, there's something fun about playin that bass line and listening to the crunch of the guitars and how BIG it sounds with the bass underneath.

"For What It's Worth" is just excruciating; it's a tune that just never needs to be covered. Having said that, there are plenty of songs that hang entirely(or for the most part)on
I-IV or I-V that can be fun if you put a little effort into it, or if you're blessed with a good funky drummer. As far as single riff stuff, "Superstition" is just torture, especially if you have a guitarist that thinks it's a license for endless solos. Even the BBA version, with all the jamming, was under control. When I was a kid, Grand Funk's "Inside Looking Out" was water torture; The Animals' quasi-original(its origins was in a southern convict's work song)was more to my liking, but the guitarist in our teen garage band insisted on the GFR arrangement.

I would get lost in the number of repetition. Even ridding the root as long as it changes with the chords I would be OK since it moves.

Wait... I thought we were talking about bass lines in MUSIC, but if we're talking about bass loops on recordings of people talking, then yeah, 99% of rap is snoozeville.

Most Top40 hits have very simple basslines. Not a fan of overly busy or overly 'creative' basslines. How Long is a great tune and sounds really good when everyone else is playing the song properly.

I like simple lines
Nothing like locking down the pocket with a solid drummer.
A great example of simple pocket playing with the occasional, subtle deviation is Dug Pinnick of King's X. It simply kills.
It's harder to play simple stuff because of short attention spans.

I used to be a huge Coldplay fan. I turned to prog metal, prog rock (Rush, Porcupine Tree, Weather report, Dream Theater, Opeth, Yes) afterwards. A drastic change, certainly, but even as a metalhead and prog snob, I still enjoyed this bassline:

Another great song. Bassline is def not boring. It drives the song and really can't be played any other way.
