Also.... what kind of response was he expecting with a shirt like that? Guitar forums might like it, but this one wont....
Just listened to it. Big mouth, but (as he commented
) he did talk about keeping practicing and try to improve. I know I need to - plenty of room to get better.A couple of thoughts:
1. maybe if you're more confident you'll do better in public, and for some people that might come with being very happy with whatever kit you're using - and it that's expensive, so be it.
2. the correlation between expensive kit and good playing might not be perfect. I'll find out tomorrow when I meet my guitarist neighbour to make some noise. Will the abalone knobs and fake skunk tail strap on my Glarry JBass make me a better player? Or would the Burning Fire with wooden knobs be better? Decisions, decisions ...

I started really playing pretty late in life (I did little more than mess around for a lot of years) and I was already married close to 30 years when I played my first gig. So I never had the expectation. But, replace the cat with a son and the reality is pretty accurate!
