Bass Meme War! Go!!

Make the drummer tune his heads a half-step down in solidarity. That'll fix his red wagon.

Seriously, different key with time to practice before gig? Sure. Calling a different key on stage? Well, ok. But everyone gets immunity from scolding for clams.

Sorry, I never got this. If a half step is going to make the difference in whether you can sing a song, you probably shouldn't be singing it.

I was in a cover band with a good vocalist - he could hit Journey (Don't Stop Believing, Separate Ways, Any Way You Want It) and Boston. He had no problem with More than a Feeling, but for Rock and Roll Band, insisted on tuning to E Flat - I had to take a second bass just for that song - fortunately, it was a good paying gig.

"Pride & Joy" is in Eb, we still do it in E. I bought two basses dropped tuned for 8 songs for a gig we had and they did none of them . Never again.

Ugh. Vocalists. lol

I play in a big (14-person) cover band that has 4 vocalists, and we have quite a few tunes in non-original keys. And sometimes they'll change up who sings a given song, which means that in some cases we have multiple keys for the same song. We've played songs at shows where confusion hits and half the band is in one key while the other half is in a different key. :rollno:

But I think we've digressed... To keep this thread on the Meme Train, here's one from the Cover Band Central Facebook page! ha ha
