Bass Mod. Pickup location. Where would you place it?

I have a nice MIJ, El Degas P bass copy. It doesn't have a P style pu though. it has a little telecaster guitar style one. Although I like it, and it's kind of cool, it just doesn't have any ooomph!
So, I have a Peavey T40 pickup kicking around that I want to install, and a Bad Ass II bridge. I'm gonna place it over the original PU location, but I'm wondering if i should center it over the original location or have it back towards the bridge (which I think I'm favouring), or closer to to the neck. I know it's kind of minuscule and it might not make a difference in tone, but I was wondering what you all think.
I have included pictures of the T40 pu surround in the 3 different spots over the original pu.
What say you?

No replies? That's too bad, it's a good question. I have almost the exact bass/pu, but it's a MIJ National I got in highschool a thousand yrs ago. I still really enjoy playing it, but with the same issue with the output.
I'm considering a mod as well. Perhaps with a passive MM style pickup? But I was wondering about placement as well.
I know this is an old post, bit I'd be interested in hearing how it turned out.
