Bass Nightmare

I think it would help to get to the manager of the store where the bass is, and work with him to get the repairs done. On the phone might be OK, in person is usually better, but when the store is some distance away that is difficult.

Usually if you're not getting action, it helps to get to an upper-level person in the store; that would be the manager. I think a phone call every few days without letup might be enough to get him(?) to take action just to get you out of his hair. After a couple of weeks, I might call every Monday, Wednesday and Friday!

It also wouldn't hurt to contact Fender directly and get their attention about the time and inconvenience that the OP has encountered. I liked the suggestion for him to enlist his spouse or other relative as a letter-writer if he has trouble with clarity in writing. No insult intended, just aiming at being effective in communication with Fender.

The rudeness of some posters towards the OP on this thread makes me ashamed to read it. Since when did picking apart someone's grammar become bloodsport for a-holes? Count your blessings that your all such witty hipsters with so much time to burn you can spend it berating someone for fun.

There's a lot of assumption there. People who correct others are not necessarily doing it for fun. I do it because I would rather someone correct me than let me go around showing my ignorance.

Somewhere along the line we let feelings become more important than actual intelligence and accuracy. Many people actually seem to strive to be a victim and get offended at anything. Where has that gotten us?

So how is the customer service on a bass with no local dealers from a company based in one part of Asia but with their facilities in another part of Asia?
Not supporting his trolling here but supposedly the Sire customer service is really really good, as in fixing your problem for free and giving you free stuff for your trouble. That's what I've seen on the club thread. Anyways back to regularly scheduled programming.

It's a nightmare, alright. Sure doesn't look like a double bass! Try the BG side of the house. Reported to mods.
Wow... Really nice guys. Not at all unhappy that I don't frequent the DB section. Take care.

Guys? I'm just one guy. The DB side is the friendly side.:) All you have to do is read this thread to see why the BG side of the house has the reputation that it does. This was posted to the wrong side and I noted that and asked the mods to move it so that it would get the proper attention. That would be best for the OP. I did that with humor and no criticism. Don't lump me in with the venomous posters here.

A decent response would have been, "Thank you."

In fairness "Reported to the Mods" reads a lot like "I'm telling on you!"

A decent phrasing would've been "I'll flag it so the mods can move it to the other location for you."

Cheers!

I have a Fender bass which is having a component replaced under the lifetime warranty. GC is doing it because they are the closest Authorized Fender Service Center. Like the OP, I have been given an estimate of Mid-March for the component to be shipped from Fender. That will make it 60 days since first dropped off at GC. I am standing by to report the outcome of this. I'm hoping for the best. It's Fender's last shot at keeping this customer.

I think the phrasing I used was quite decent and that you've read into it what wasn't there at all. It's quite telling that you'd interpret it that way. That likely results from your having adopted a defensive posture against rude posts. That's quite rare on the DB side on which the phrase "reported to mods" means exactly that. Instead of interpreting it negatively, folks typically interpret it positively.

I agree with FirewalZ and Johnny Crab? I currently border on my 60s and have started visiting this site quite frequently. Should I just leave now before I get assaulted as well. Dear Grammar Nazis, I used to be a paid writer, and I am currently an English Teacher. Good Grammar doesn't make you any less of a dick. A little respect for someone who simply wanted to share an experience would definitely be in order. If you "dissed" someone like that in one of my writing classes I'd take you and your ego down faster than having to play Giant Steps at M.M 350 for 1/2 an hour straight on Open Mike Night.

If I have a problem with a dealer like this, I get on my phone with the main company (Fender, here), explain the situation,, and walk into the store,
then ask for the manager, and put him on the phone with the Company rep. Usually gets it sorted out quickly.

Likely the components come from overseas (like trying to get Nissan, Volvo parts, etc), so there're few locally (US) stocked components avail on short notice. Global economy.

That is a really nice-looking bass, man. Usually I prefer jazz basses with a pickguard, but with the pattern of the grains on your bass, I think your bass looks better without a pickguard. I hope this whole thing ends up being a big misunderstanding, however inconvenient, and that you get the repair and satisfaction that you deserve.

Keep us posted!

Actually, I interpreted it as "Wrong channel. Take your problems elsewhere. You're told on," which is why I made the comment I did. It seemed very dry and indifferent and not at all positive.

However, you say that's not how you intended it. No harm. No foul. Sorry for misinterpreting.
