Bass Nightmare

The trouble with these is the mystery behind what kind of grain pattern you'll be stuck with.

As you can see, they're not putting a whole lot of effort into matching body pieces.

That, and I hate Fender noiseless pickups. They've got no balls and they're pretty noisy for noiseless pickups, in my experience.

Good lord! That's like something I see at Ikea!!!!!

I think the phrasing I used was quite decent and that you've read into it what wasn't there at all. It's quite telling that you'd interpret it that way. That likely results from your having adopted a defensive posture against rude posts. That's quite rare on the DB side on which the phrase "reported to mods" means exactly that. Instead of interpreting it negatively, folks typically interpret it positively.

Quite the opposite is true and you read me wrong.

Actually, I interpreted it as "Wrong channel. Take your problems elsewhere. You're told on," which is why I made the comment I did. It seemed very dry and indifferent and not at all positive.

However, you say that's not how you intended it. No harm. No foul. Sorry for misinterpreting.
Thanks. I guess I'm just kinder and gentler than was assumed. :)

I agree with FirewalZ and Johnny Crab? I currently border on my 60s and have started visiting this site quite frequently. Should I just leave now before I get assaulted as well. Dear Grammar Nazis, I used to be a paid writer, and I am currently an English Teacher. Good Grammar doesn't make you any less of a dick. A little respect for someone who simply wanted to share an experience would definitely be in order. If you "dissed" someone like that in one of my writing classes I'd take you and your ego down faster than having to play Giant Steps at M.M 350 for 1/2 an hour straight on Open Mike Night.

I love the message and humor of your passage, as quoted, above, but there's a bit of Pot-meet-Kettle to it. Where is the question mark, at the end of the "assault" query? There is no formal group known as Grammar Nazis, so that is not a proper noun; the capitalization is erroneous. Since when does the word, "teacher" have to be capitalized? As far as we know, there isn't a formal entity known as Good Grammar; why the capitalization? What happened to the usage of commas after clauses? You're missing such a comma, in your final sentence.

In other words, your credibility as a self-proclaimed teacher of English is hereby called into question, but that is not the subject of this thread. As long as the vast majority of those who read this thread can essentially comprehend the contents of it, all is well with it. Having said that, if someone's going to take a grammarian's proverbial high road, and not be thorough in proofreading their own content, I'm all-too-happy to take them down a peg or two faster than having to slap "Flight of the Bumblebee."

I drink chocolate under my bed and had a red jazz bass but i wanted a precision so i could take better selfies with my cat he likes classic rock but the bassist were trying to play like guitarrists so i changed the cassette and now i listen to punk rock my car was red like my jazz bass i hate rappers they get all the girls while i stare at the rain alone waiting for the end of the walking dead

3 months ago I bought me a Fender Okoume Jazz bass. I like it because the one I got had a unusual wood grain, and I suppose most of you are familiar with the bass are have already read about them. 3 band eq Noiseless pickups. Anyway I played it twice at church and the preamp went out I was told. I could send it back get another one, but I don't really care for the grain of the wood on these bass guitars. Except this one is cool I think, I want it cause its a little different. Anyway the nightmare, I took it to Guitar Center in Round Rock Texas, the close Fender authorize tech to me according to Fender. Right off the bat GC wanted to sell me a different system. I said nope cause the Fender is a warranty deal and a freebie, I am retired and on a fix income. Anyway they had the bass for over a month, said they were waiting on Fender. I called Fender they said they were not contacted by them. I feel they were thinking I would give up and pay for another system. Also the young tech they had him and his dad both have done work for me. Both done very good work for me, dad retired are something and son took over. He himself a very good bass player. When I asked him about my bass acted like didn't want to talk, said GC order the part. He quit GC a couple days later, they had another tech few days later. But I guess this one is not a Fender authorize tech. I was just going to go get my bass, but Fender won't sale me the part if I put it in myself if voids the warranty. I called GC told they had lied to me maybe cause I talk to a real person from Fender. They said know one was contacted at Fender, so I am on the phone telling GC I fell like they think this old man is just going to give in and pay for a new system. They got the wrong GC they told me about 10:30 am. couple hours later I get a call from Round Rock GC, they have sent my bass to San Antonio. There is a Fender authorize tech there, 3 or 4 hrs from me but they are paying everything. Then I get a call from them the part is on back order they can't get it the middle of march. Today at noon I will be on the phone with Fender to check out their story. But they are the closet place I like the bass, and I didn't want to send it back to Waldorf MD. I played the bass 2 Sundays and loved it. Thank God I have my old Frankenstein fretless P. My wife said I am like an old Bull Dog, I said maybe but I am 65 yrs old and I still believe in integrity. And some stores lack it. This a Picture of it from the store.View attachment 796339

Guitar Center, first mistake. Compounded by continued Guitar Center mistakes.

Agreed, but sometimes it's your only option. I'm in the SF bay area and last year I needed to have a body replaced by Fender. I was told by Fender that I "had to go through an authorized Fender tech", and "here's a list". Well, at least half of the 4 or 5 on the list were no longer there (luckily including GC) and my options were either a guy 20 miles away at a shop I normally don't like to do business with or a guy 60+ miles away. I made my choice and in the end it all worked out; but it literally took a year, almost to the day, before my sweet baby Jane was back in my hands. Original estimate was about 90 days. It was no nightmare, it just required an enormous amount of patience. My drawn-out point is that these choices can sometimes be very limited, and you go with who you have to go with.

I've been eyeing this very bass as well. It is lovely. My sympathies on this ordeal. I wish you the best of luck in a speedy turnaround!

I'm hoping for the best. It's Fender's last shot at keeping this customer.

I had the same hope at one time... 6 bad amps in a row, in 4 months time. The last one didn't work right out of the box at the dealer. That was my last dance with fender.

Thanks to everyone, and I am sorry I lost my temper a little. But I have heard and had to deal with adhd and now seizure meds all my life, its not your fault. Some of you might be surprise I have a college degree in science. I can post it to prove it. I even taught a shop class, like welding and sheet metal, wood working. But as you can tell English was out I had to get help. And far as paragraphs I am sorry my computer as I have mention functions poorly, my kids used it for school. It has had a Pepsi are coke spilled on it once I know of, and making paragraph your lucky. Making it do a few things your lucky. And I rather buy a bass stuff then a computer...... New paragraph. Got a call from GC in San Antone, They said part is on back order from Fender, Fender will not have any until March. I assure you I will call Fender and make sure their story holds true. The Round Rock store has lost a lot of integrity I think. I was told as I said before my bass was sent to San Antone with know instructions. I don't know what would have happen if I had not called. I guess would have just sat on the shelf and maybe got sold.

Well I called Fender today just to make sure GC in San Antonio was telling the truth. The guy I talk to was very nice and check on everything for me. He found they had actually order it this time, Round Rock well they said they did nope. But San Antonio GC did order it and it is on back order at Fender. The first of March it looks like maybe he said, he also stated I would be one of the first I hope.....New Paragraph dudes. We talked I told him my wife last year bought me a Fender American Special Telecaster. So he said for all my troubles he was going to send me some strings and picks and other stuff free. That's sort of cool, anyway I guess we will see what happens in March. Again thanks for listening to me gripe and complain. This stupid labtop sometimes you will be typing, next thing you know your adding letters to another word somewhere else. One of these days I ll get a computer from this century that hasn't had soda pop spilled on it.

Hey Gary..... I work on the computer all day. Spent years not understanding why I would be typing a document and suddenly I was typing in a new random location..... I just recently found out these blasted things will go to where you leave your cursor. Probably old news of comedic value to the youngsters reading this. But it flustered me for years. If you type just move your mouse cursor off the page. I'll bet your problem of adding letters where you don't want them will stop... And best of luck to you again.
