3 months ago I bought me a Fender Okoume Jazz bass. I like it because the one I got had a unusual wood grain, and I suppose most of you are familiar with the bass are have already read about them. 3 band eq Noiseless pickups. Anyway I played it twice at church and the preamp went out I was told. I could send it back get another one, but I don't really care for the grain of the wood on these bass guitars. Except this one is cool I think, I want it cause its a little different. Anyway the nightmare, I took it to Guitar Center in Round Rock Texas, the close Fender authorize tech to me according to Fender. Right off the bat GC wanted to sell me a different system. I said nope cause the Fender is a warranty deal and a freebie, I am retired and on a fix income. Anyway they had the bass for over a month, said they were waiting on Fender. I called Fender they said they were not contacted by them. I feel they were thinking I would give up and pay for another system. Also the young tech they had him and his dad both have done work for me. Both done very good work for me, dad retired are something and son took over. He himself a very good bass player. When I asked him about my bass acted like didn't want to talk, said GC order the part. He quit GC a couple days later, they had another tech few days later. But I guess this one is not a Fender authorize tech. I was just going to go get my bass, but Fender won't sale me the part if I put it in myself if voids the warranty. I called GC told they had lied to me maybe cause I talk to a real person from Fender. They said know one was contacted at Fender, so I am on the phone telling GC I fell like they think this old man is just going to give in and pay for a new system. They got the wrong GC they told me about 10:30 am. couple hours later I get a call from Round Rock GC, they have sent my bass to San Antonio. There is a Fender authorize tech there, 3 or 4 hrs from me but they are paying everything. Then I get a call from them the part is on back order they can't get it the middle of march. Today at noon I will be on the phone with Fender to check out their story. But they are the closet place I like the bass, and I didn't want to send it back to Waldorf MD. I played the bass 2 Sundays and loved it. Thank God I have my old Frankenstein fretless P. My wife said I am like an old Bull Dog, I said maybe but I am 65 yrs old and I still believe in integrity. And some stores lack it. This a Picture of it from the store.
