Bass Overdrive

Hello all, im in the market for an overdrive/distortion pedal. i have a gig next month and i think its time for a pedal. i went to GC to try out their pedals but all the have is the boss odb-3 and the sansamp bass driver. i don't like the boss one, and the sansamp feels like more of a preamp than drive pedal. the real problem is that they only have those two pedals in stock to demo, if i want to demo another pedal i would have to order it (meaning i would have to pay).
the tone im looking for would be something like this:

so this brings me the question to the more experienced players, what would be a pedal to achieve this this kind of tone?

In the video itself it he says he uses a SansAmp BDDI!!! Why not try that one out? Or the VT Bass, that's a good all purpose OD/drive pedal, lots of fans.

Well, the kid in that clip is using a BDDI, so if that's what you're going for...

Searching this forum for overdrive/rage/commerford will yield a lot of results!

Overdrives, fuzzes, distortions are so personal that it''s hard to point you in a definitive direction. Using a bass with a similar tone will also help a lot too, obviously!

For a Timmy C. tone, the closest OD that I have played is a Blackout Effectors Mantra. This not just a bass OD but the EQ is great and no Low End Loss.

yeah, but i tried it at the store and it did not come close to this, thats why i got second thoughts, is anyone else able to achieve something similar?

He seems to be plucking the strings pretty hard, that can contribute to the aggressive distorted tone you're hearing. What was your plucking hand attack when you tried out the pedal?

He's using a nice bass with nice pickups. also assuming he's recording through the camera mic thats prob being overloaded adding more distortion
