Hi Chef
It is a viola bass I designed and had built for me. Never liked the Hofners much, they just felt kind of cheap to me, although McCartney always got a great sound out of them.
I had the electronics from a Variax Line 6 bass put in and it is a very versatile sounding bass.

I agree with you 100%, BassHappy.
It really was memory-stirring to see all the nice bass shots that you've forgotten about.
I haven't taken any bass photos lately, but I'll try again soon.
I do have a photo I took and posted here back in 2009.
I went through all 41 pages of this thread, and it hasn't been posted here.

Thanks! It's a Dean Stylist w/ custom TV Jones pickups. Kinda like a $5.00 shine on a $2.00 pair of shoes but it plays and sounds like a dream.
