Bass Picks for Punk Rock music?

dunlop tortex. The green ones if you like medium, yellow if you like med light. Purple or blue for heavy.
I had a lot more issues with RSI when I played with heavier picks btw.

PS-I just gotta say, Blink 182/Rancid etc are hardly punk. Check out X-"under the big black sun", Clash-"London Calling", Stiff Little Fingers (anything really) and the Buzzcocks-"Love Bites" for stuff the above mentioned bands are certainly heavily borrowing from. I'd also point you to a remedial Black Flag-"Everything Went Black" or "Damaged" listening. Oh yeah and DOA "bloodied but unbowed". God I could go on forever. Avengers-"We are the One", Minor Threat-"Out of Step', Bad Brains-Banned in DC (aka the ROIR sessions), Circle Jerks "Group Sex", Ramones "Rocket to Russia".

I play that kind of music.
I went from a Dunlop Ultex 1.0 because they are pretty much indestructible, and I always tore up picks.

Then, I got the the point where my picking technique was better and I actually was wasn't catching the side of the pick and switch to Dunlop 1.14 tortex. Then I started liking the .73 because I liked having a little flex in the pick. Now I'm onto the .60 tortex.

Honestly, it's whatever works best for you. I suggest you buy a bunch of different sizes and see what you like best.

Good choices all. The older punk is definitely something to emulate when using a pick for that style. I use Dunlop Stubby Triangle 1.5mm, Clayton 1.9, Dunlop Ultex 1.14 or a 2mm V-Pick when I use a pick. They are all the 346 shape, easy to hold and can take a beating. You can use any side as well.

+1

Gotta love how whenever anyone poses a punk or metal related question on TB you get a ton of snarky non answers. I guess that's the price we pay for playing the best music.
Palm-mute-riffic.

For the record, I love punk and play in a punk band, and was one of the ones providing a snarky answer :D. It's okay to laugh at yourself every once in a while.
Yeah, me too, on all counts. I mean, back in '77, punk was all about snarky non-answers.
