Bass player bails on gig 1.5 hours before load in

Should I fire him? Bass player in my band let us know he was sick, crapping and puking himself an hour and a half before load in. :rollno:

We played anyway. What should we do?

Having read this entire thread now, I say yes you should can Dwaynie. His replies here certainly indicate a person of questionable moral character and mental stability.

After such insolence you should put a long-dead fish, preferably a perch for just the right fragrance, into the port of his speaker cab before showing him the door. He clearly needs such punishment to show him the errors of his ways.:ninja:

Just trying to have a little fun here, folks. Dwayne is a tremendous bass player and a guy who I've become good friends with since he joined this band. I have no doubt he was genuinely sick. He's never flaked out on gigs before. We played without him and the show went as well as it could have given the circumstances.

Now, we did fire a guy 2 weeks after Dwayne joined b/c he bailed on a gig an hour before down beat. That's 100% true. Fired him the second he said he wasn't coming...but that's a different story for a different thread.

I had to walk off stage one time in the middle of the set to go barf. ( really)
I think the crowd wanted me fired, when I came back they realized it was me that had them on the dance floor... All was forgiven.

:hmm: Hmm. :eyebrow: Well, then just fire the drummer for telling jokes on a "Band Management" forum that stink!!! :D
