I really like The Line 6 Frankenstein amp setting. It is very overdrive friendly. I don't OD it a ton, but it as a lot of warmth and a touch of fuzz/grit to the sound. Think of it as an SVT on steroids!

Bass POD Pro LIVE XT...Real World Review

Hey all,

Bear in mind though that the Autowah is a WORK IN PROGRESS - I need to eq the top and bottom but i am happy with the sensitivity and range etc. Excuse the shoddy playing etc as I really just made these as notes and to play around with my laptop. All are done through the pod and into Ableton Live and back out through the pod again.
A quick rundown of the settings:
Fretted: Eden Traveller pre, no cab
Fretless: SWR sm500, EA 1x12 cab, reverb, tube mic
Phaser: Alembic FB2 pre, Ashdown 210 cab, tube mic
STV grit: &0s SVT into Fender Bassman 410, dynamic 112 mic
Stink Synth: GK800rb, no cab, REZ Synth, Flanger and King Spring Reverb.
So far the autowah is: DI(no pre/cab - have been experimenting with the GK and the Aguilar), Mutronics filter, Phaser
The main settings at the top took absolutely ages to get exact, which is what some people find annoying about the pod. If you enjoy twiddling and deep editing, anything is possible with this unit.

I have owned a Bass PodXT before... And I think that they Live version was long overdue. I am actually thinking about getting it again now that the floor pedals have been integrated into the design.
Will do mate - just let me spend some time with the autowah over the next couple of days and get the bottom and top sounding perfect. Of course what works with my basses might not work with yours - I notice you play Ken Smith basses - it would be interesting to hear how the sound differs with such a bass. The settings sounded great with my Alembic Elan which is kind of KS like in sound but a little darker.
My ken smith has jazz pickups, so it is a little different than the normal ones. But yeah, if I get off my lazy butt and set things up, I could do some sound clips. I think I owe someone else some clips of my nano muff overdrive, so I might as well get to it 
One of the reasons why many people do not take full advantage of the computers (Line 6 Bass Pod XT Live) they buy is the simple fact they do NOT read the manual when they do NOT understand the system.
I find, many people, like for electronics/computers to be intuitive (read: Microsoft ready) and w/o the hassle of having to read through the instruction manual which comes with each piece of electronics (new) one buys.
Be honest! How many of you who bought the Line 6 Bass Pod XT read the manual from cover to cover? For those who bought it used, you can download the manual from the Line 6 website. If you did, you would discover, like I did, the folks at Line 6 are saying the exact things Tommixx said. In essence, you must make adjustments to the the plethora of selections available in the BPXTL
The BPXTL is merely a tool, a very good one, which has more amps, cabinets, modulators, and etc., (albeit, modeled) than anyone of us could take advantage of in one sitting, let alone a gig environment.
In conclusion, we as musicians sitting in our basements or studios or living rooms can be discerning about sound, but remember that many of us play in bars, clubs, and stadiums where the "audience" (minus the audiophiles present) can't tell a tube from a solid-state amplifier, let alone a preamp which has modeled damn near all of them they have collectively ever heard. Lastly, if you have Anthony Jackson tastes and pocketbook go right ahead and buy all of the equipment modeled in the BPXTL. Remember, the rest of us will be takin' your gig!

I read the manual for everything I buy before I attempt to use it. It doesn't matter what it is, but I'm just weird that way. And yes, I even read the Bass PodXT live manual cover to cover. I still found some thing confusing though. Now I just have to find the time and patience to tweak the setting and perfect my sound.
To be honest I read the manual after having a good play with it first. I really enjoyed reading it through though... every time I learned something new about it I had to switch it on and try it out! There is so much you can do!

Wish there were better tones to download though. Most of the ones I would want seem to no longer be on the site. Anybody have anything to share?
I have. A couple of times. Last time was two weeks ago while the van got transmission service(I waited on it and read). EVERY time you read it, something else new pops out.
But then this is a guy who carries a book in his car at all times in case of traffic or catching a train....and likes HP calculators....etc....
I too have about 6 of the channels that are used regularly to clone-a-sound. YES tweaking is a must. Flat speakers help A LOT! Setup?

Do a search for 'Hiscocks' at customtone.com and you will find my 'Stink Synth', 'Grit' and 'Clean' settings..

Ya, same here. When I will need an amp that is where the Accugrove Powered Cabs will come in.
just wanted to stick my 2 cents in.... i love my original bean. i know i will love the live when it comes time to upgrade, but find it hard to justify when i am completely satisfied with what i got. 90% of the time i am rockin the tube pre with no eq. rest of the time i dabble with the silverface or others. FLAT cabs are a huge must IMO. just wanted to share in the love!
