I should add that I play at a few very large churches in my area (7-800 per service. 3 services usually).
When I get a call for a church I haven't played at, or if there is a sound man I haven't worked with, I always start with a "Fender" type bass.
I have a custom PJ 4 that is my go to church bass right now.
That's being said, I've used a lot of different types of basses. But if all else fails, a "Fender" will usually take care of the problem.
Take a listen. This is my standard tone.
