Bass scale (noob question)

Hey guys.

So ive been shopping around for a jazz bass that fits my budget (quite a small budget to be honest). Quality wasn't a factor seeing as though I plan on doing some mods once my job picks up again. Anyway I found a guy selling an SX jazz bass for $80 (SX basses are really hard to come by here in Australia). In the email he mentions that "the bass is roughly 45.5 inches from top of the neck to the bottom of the instrument". Is that a standard size jazz bass or is it a short scale? Just wondering because Ive never played a short scale and don't really think Id like it that much considering I'm a pretty big guy and my hands are quite large lol. Thanks heaps

My Fender Jazz measures 46.25", so my bet is that SX is standard scale.

You'll never know if you don't like playing a short scale if you never try one.

45" from top to bottom is most likely a long scale ("standard scale") bass.

I had a Fender Musicmaster, Kalamazoo, and a Guild Starfire. I like long scale basses.

Long scale is regular scale in case you didn't get that from the above posts.
