talkbass.com is a great way for me to discover new music like this. For example, I'm enjoying albums by Phronesis, Fonnesbaek & Kauflin, Tingvall Trio, and Aki Rissanen, as suggested by WUTP over the DB side. Where would I learn about those groups otherwise?

I second the sentiment... Lee helped me with Jimmy Herring's 'Only When It's Light', and did a great job transcribing about the first half of the song...
... hopefully, I can return the favor, and fill in the rest. Every time I play/listen to it, I pick something different out to add to his transcription.

Regarding Mother's Finest (an oft-overlooked band, IMO), like Rufus, they fused Rock-Funk-Soul...with a female vocalist.
As far as?
"Love Changes" is a Funk ballad(?)...that I played poorly back in the day.
In spite of that, it was fun & it served well as the "slow song" in the set.
I am familiar with the band, but not the song.
Anyway, nearly ready

Very cool band, still one of my favourites.
4th bar of the chorus...love how the descending octaves begin on an "upbeat" (e of 3).
That's cool.
If someone could check the 2nd measure of the chorus. I don't think the octaves are played by the bass, but by keyboard. All the other times the bass plays the octaves
