Six and a half minutes of funky 80s music

Gwen McCrae - Funky Sensation | Fred Brown

In case no one else mentioned it, Jamerson did "I Wish It Would Rain" and Bob Babbitt did "Just My Imagination"
May I asked where you got the info from? It's often very difficult to find credits for that era. A student of mine is convinced that Jamerson played on "Just My Imagination".

Do you also know who played on which song on Invalid Link Removed? Both Felder and Jamerson are mentioned.

Regarding "Imagination", the wiki page for the song has the personnel ( Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me) - Wikipedia ). Also, in speaking personally with guitarist Dennis Coffey in 2022, he confirmed that Babbitt played the session.

Regarding "Rain" I think it's generally understood that Jamerson played almost all the Hitsville sessions in 1967. However, the line is so decidedly un-Jamerson (meaning very simple, no embellishments nor variations). So there's a case to say someone else played it on that ONE day that Jamerson wasn't at the studio. Not a lesser player, but someone who could follow the producer's direction to "keep it simple".

Don't know about "Let's Get It On". Part of the album was recorded in Detroit and part in LA, hence why both Felder and Jamerson are credited.

EDIT - changing what I wrote about "Let's Get It On", as I thought you were just asking about that particular song. Based on the producer credits and also listening to both sides, it seems to me that Side B was recorded in Detroit (Jamerson) and Side A was recorded in LA (Felder).

Instead of creating a new topic for every transcription, I thought I'd combine them all in one thread from now on.

Here are some of my older posts some of which were requests posted here on Talkbass:

I saw a video if Glen Hansard playing at Shane MacGowan’s funeral last December. I have always liked Hansard's voice and the energy in his music. It reminded me of how much I loved the movie Once and the soundtrack, both with Markéta Irglová
