I may have been thinking of RATM. They're otherwise the same to me.
I knew he didn't mean Tool. I don't think "screechy rap-metal" would be used by even the most ardent Tool basher. There are many more derogatory descriptions I have heard, but that would be a new one![]()

Hmm... Maynard Keenan rapping...
...[shudder]
There's something inherently wrong about someone beatboxing rhythms or freestyle-rapping lyrics to a Tool song.
If someone did it to Sad But True, why couldn't it be done to...oh, I don't know...a loop of 5th -> OCt part of Disposition....
Yontz Sucre in Raleigh, NC has perfected IMHO the best bass wah. He as tweaked a Cry Baby Wah to work with bass and they sound great. Here is the link to his site. He is also one heck of an amp tech!

wahs and whammys are veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy different..
#565
They are not just different, they have nothing to do with each otherA wah pedal is as similar to a gas pedal, as it is to whammy.

But a Whammy can do that "engine revving" sound, too, if set properly. So it's not THAT different from a gas pedal. Or maybe even a brake pedal.![]()
To some a Wah IS a g.a.s. pedal, to others, a whammy![]()
