Bass Whammy Petition!

But, with all due respect and a fan of the work that I've heard from you...there are 15 threads a week about Justin Chancellor here...I can't say the same about you...so IMO the comparison that you're trying to make doesn't hold water.

You totally missed the point. First I was not at all in any way comparing myself to Justin Chancellor, and second could you show me where I was comparing myself to Justin Chancellor? My comment about Digitech re releasing the Bass Whammy has nothing to do with who's a more popular bassist. Just because a bassist is popular or happens to be the favorite of a 1000 other bass players on a public forum has nothing to do with real world #'s.

When was the last time a group of talk bass members had any influence over a company and the companies marketing department? TB is a very very tiny demographic.

In the real world companies have had and continue to have a hold on TB members not the other way around.

I have an endorsement with Digitech and I'm in very good standing with them. I have discussed the possibility of them re releasing the bass Whammy on several occasions and the pedal just was not a good seller to begin with among other factors that I will not divulge. As far as Digitech potentially selling a large # of Bass whammy pedals at this point it doesn't matter who's playing one, plus bass players are substituting the Bass Whammy for the Whammy pedals that were originally designed for guitar players and that's fine with Digitech(at this point).

Again where do I compare myself to Justin Chancellor ?

I'm not taking it personal. I just don't like people putting words in my mouth.

Again how am I making comparisons?

He's right though. He's made no comparison of himself to Justin Chancellor.

All he did was state that he had an endorsement through DigiTech and relayed the information he's learned through that relationship.

Naturally as a bass-oriented forum lots of the populace of the site will know of Justin Chancellor. What about outside this site? Sure there are plenty of people who like Tool, and would know of Justin, but the large majority of players most likely wouldn't.

In any case, how many popular bass players can you name that even USE a bass whammy? Probably not more than 10 at most. However, how many bass players can you name that use a chorus, overdrive, distortion, etc? Plenty enough to warrant a bass-specific pedal for them.

Like some have said in this thread, the best bet is to hope for a Whammy V. A bass whammy just isn't going to happen, but a Whammy V with a bigger sweep range on the treadle and the 5th/Oct up setting is really all that's needed. The tracking on the Whammy IV is passable, so maybe touch that up a tad more and add those extra couple settings and you'd be set.

No... Jauqo's right, and his posts aren't negative. he's got every right to know where Zapp' got the comparison theory from. I do too quite frankly... :hmm:

Now Jauqo, you were distracted obviously. So here goes my question again...

Have Digitech been planning a release of a Whammy V, perhaps, with a wider tracking range, more settings, and more user friendly (as far as it comes to switching settings)?

Really they don't need to reissue the Bass Whammy, but one with "improvements" would be nice. I have a WH4 now and enjoy it tons, but it's got a few bugs that I'm sure can be worked out.

And are those other factors unable ot divulge "serious" ones?

:smug:

Tbirdbassist,to answer your original question, with all due respect to Digitech I'll just leave it at that.

Also, there was a time, Jauqo, when Talkbass took part in the reinstatement of a product. And that's when Ibanez reissued the ATK. Talkbass is indeed a small percentage, but we did help in that.

I more than remember that but can you say that TB actually helped in having Ibanez reissue the ATK?

I more than remember that but is there accurate proof that TB actually helped in having Ibanez reissue the ATK?
