Bass Whammy Petition!

I signed. But I really think an upgrade from the whammy 4 would be a better choice. Should change the petion to, (Upgrade Whammy 4 With Bass Whammy Capabilities).

We should also do a pention for the BF2 Bottom Wah Rocker..

Tbirdbassist,to answer your original question, with all due respect to Digitech I'll just leave it at that.

I more than remember that but is there accurate proof that TB actually helped in having Ibanez reissue the ATK?

While I respect your respect for Digitech... I don't see what could be so secretive. Unless it was a legal issue/product hazard.

Is there any accurate proof Talkbass didn't? It's a no in any case. :smug:

However, Ibanez did say they brought it back "due to popular demand". Assumptions are just assumptions, but to not think that the Takbass demographic would go unheard is silly to me. Any company with the heads caring about what people think of their product would at least take care to look at what the biggest all bassist public forum on the net has to say. I think it's a big enough demographic to affect or at best change "big business" decisions.

That may be true but TB's demographics are pretty small compared to the much bigger bass community demographics that are not members of talkbass(and no I'm not being sarcastic).

This statement is undeniably true. That said, I bet many bread and butter non-talkbass bassist friends come to folks like us when they have questions about effects. Just like my parents come to me when they need to buy a new computer. One might argue that many here are the superusers of the bass community and in the internet connected age help shape and define 'what is cool'.

You totally missed the point. First I was not at all in any way comparing myself to Justin Chancellor, and second could you show me where I was comparing myself to Justin Chancellor? My comment about Digitech re releasing the Bass Whammy has nothing to do with who's a more popular bassist. Just because a bassist is popular or happens to be the favorite of a 1000 other bass players on a public forum has nothing to do with real world #'s.

When was the last time a group of talk bass members had any influence over a company and the companies marketing department? TB is a very very tiny demographic.

In the real world companies have had and continue to have a hold on TB members not the other way around.

Again where do I compare myself to Justin Chancellor ?

My initial post: #154. If they could get JC to endose it, it would sell.

You're initial post: I have an endorsement with Digitech and I'm in very good standing with them. I have discussed the possibility of them re releasing the bass Whammy on several occasions and the pedal just was not a good seller to begin with among other factors that I will not divulge. As far as Digitech potentially selling a large # of Bass whammy pedals at this point it doesn't matter who's playing one, plus bass players are substituting the Bass Whammy for the Whammy pedals that were originally designed for guitar players and that's fine with Digitech(at this point).

What you are implying from your post is that you (a recording/performing artist who is an endoser of Digitech products) spoke with the company about re-releasing a certain product that was not a big seller but is currently in demand now...and you were not successful and it doesn't matter who came to them and tried to get them to re-release it. As far as I know (I know, I am quite naive) Justin Chancellor is the most well known Digitech Bass Whammy user that I am aware of. That's it. I tried to word it in a way that wasn't offensive. I even paid you a compliment in the early portion of my post. So, with that being said, I think you did compare yourself to JC...if you couldn't get it re-released...why would anyone else be able to...he is part of the anyone else.

But the bottom line is that I don't believe you. Ibanez sold a ton of basses (Fieldy) and guitars (Munky & Head) based SOLELY on the endorsers of their product. I think the same would happen (on a much smaller scale) with JC and a Bass Whammy.

I agree with you that Digitech could care less about people here on TB and what they want...they'd have better luck if Pete Wentz started using the Bass Whammy.

Justin Chancellor is the bass player for Tool, for those who don't know.

If you want to hear some good songs where he uses the whammy, listen to Schism, Lateralus, The Pot, Eulogy, Disposition, and Right in Two.

I am personally hesitant about using a guitar-based whammy pedal on bass guitar.
