This is for any basses bought for us by loved ones, Girlfriends, Wife's, Parents etc. There are no numbers given just a bit of fun, & maybe show our loved ones what their presents mean to us.

I'll go first my long term Girlfriend/Common Law Wife bought me both these 2 beauties in 1998, though the Squier she bought twice for me. The Ric was my dream bass waited 11 years for it Thanks Julie x

You've got yourself a good one there, and the basses are nice, too.
I have bought my future-ex wife a stratocaster and an Ibanez acoustic in the past, but she reciprocated with a tuner and a Russian Big Muff Pi.

I don't know if it was a typo or intentional, but Conman Law Wife is a funny phrase.

My mom bought me this bass back in 1968 or so. Worst bass I ever attempted to play.

I'll contribute. My wife frequents a shopping center that has a mom-and-pop music store in it. The store is one of the only stores in my area that sells Rics. So, every time she went to the shopping center, I would half-jokingly ask if she bought me a Ric. This went on for about two years.

In June 2010, my wife and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary. She knows that my dream trio of basses is a P bass, Ric, and Gibson Les Paul. I already had a P bass that I love, so, unbeknownst to me, she bought me the exact Ric that I wanted. I couldn't be happier with the bass (or her!)

Cool basses and some good stories so far. No one ever bought me a bass, however my mom bought me my first guitar back in the late 90's. I still play it to this day, however if it was not for it I would of never joined my first band in which they needed a bass player more than a third guitarist...so what I am trying to say is the guitar kind of helped me get into bass which I obviously still play as well. :smug:

My wife and I celebrated a 20th Anniversary and part of that was a subtle hint that a Cliff Bordwell custom ball bass would be a nice present! This was duly agreed and the result is shown below.

Only trouble was I had to reciprocate and bought her a Matisse. I mean a real one!

My wife was at an after hours jam with me at the Philly guitar show a decade ago when a luthier showed up and put a really nice bass of his making in my hands. On the plane back west she casually asked me when I was going to order one. A few months later I did put in the order, and my wife made the down payment my birthday present. A few months after that, the same week the rest was due, my boss gave me an unexpected bonus that exactly covered the remaining balance. :bassist:

Like Matisse as in Henri Matisse as in father of fauvism Matisse? I know they say you can't put a price on love... but... man thats some serious love there. :ninja:

In 1987 I didn't have much money and wanted to play bass in a band. My folks were pretty strapped too but scraped up enough money to buy me a Yamaha BB300 for Christmas along with a cheapie, no-name amp. That amp is long gone, but I still have that bass..still sounds nice and warm too. If the house catches on fire I'm running by the Ric, Fender and the Stingray and grabbing that old Yamaha. I can always replace the others...

We were visiting family in Florida and went to Bass Central. She took off to a nearby fabric store and I played basses. When she got back she was chatting with Beaver while checked out "one last bass."

A couple of days after we got back to San Diego the Lakland 55-94 that I liked best showed up at my work! Total surprise!

In addition, she paid for about half of my Ken Lawrence Brase.

We've been married almost 36 years now and she is still my best friend. I got lucky!
