My Sadowsky NYC UV PJ4.
- Solid flamed ash one piece body.
- 8.3 lbs.
- beautiful subtle flame on the fingerboard.
- the best part: plays like butter and sounds killer.
There is also this little story about how i got it:
I had been playing Sadowskys for 5 years and I never asked Roger to build me a bass like this because I had never seen this combo on the In Stock page; I thought that since they usually use solid ash for natural finishes the resulting full size P would be too heavy for Roger's standards. My PJ only weighs 8.3 lbs!
It already has a lot of sentimental value (not only for being a fantastic instrument) but because I have a little story about how I won it on ebay: I placed a bid on it like ten days before the auction ended. Early in the morning of the last day of the auction my baby girl 'knocked at the door' and I had to run to the hospital with my wife so I couldn't track the end of the auction; I lost all hope of getting the bass and I had already assimilated that some Sadowsky sniper was already celebrating the 'shot'.
My beautiful Nora was born later that day and when I came home for a shower I checked my email and found out I had won the bass. The 10th of July was my lucky day for sure.

The story behind this bass isn't as heart warming as the pink SR's above but similarly, it's proof that Sterling Ball cares about his customers. That and it's a one off also

Then there is this old thing. I just can't sell it. It was my very first bass - one that my brother-in-law passed on to me when I was 13.
Then this little Ibanez GSR200FM could be a keeper and a nice little player if I could do something about the terrible hissing from the "bass boost" pot.
Long lost is my old Ric copy. It was the first bass that I actually purchased when I was about 16. I gave it away when I thought I was never going to play anymore to a pretty good kid who helped me on a move.

that scarab is bad ass i had a blitz that i got from the original owner who taught me to play then i sold it back to him about 6 months ago cuz i couldnt fix the neck big mistake lol
Apparently I'm never going to sell this 1987 Gibson Bass V.

out of all the basses I sill have in the house, there are a few that would always be the last to go. Here's the ones I'll keep till death or poverty, whichever comes first.

The youtube video is more up to date. I put the bridge pickup cover back on, and dropped in a factory original toaster in the front position. It has the smoothest, most double bass sound I've yet heard out of a fretless. I've had this bass for over 30 years and I plan to keep it for at least another 30.
