My bass collection is rather humble compared to many on TB, but these two will be sticking around for a very long time. Tone and playability to die for. They ain't bad looking, either. :)

My USA Peavey Millennium 4 was the second bass I bought (the first one that I was able to try out before buying) after I started playing bass a few years ago. She was new, but very shopworn - no telling how many players gave her a tryout and put her back on the wall or rack. I'm glad they did, even as a beginner, I could tell she sounded better, was made better and was more playable than my first bass, an SX Jazz (which was a great instrument to learn on). The neck in particular was perfect for my hands and the tone when I set the blend at 75% MM 25% Jazz is the proverbial tone in my head.

I have since bought 5 more basses (2 of which were more expensive) and sold 3 but this is the only untouchable out of the 4 in the stable right now. The market says she is worth $400 or so, but she is worth way more to me. As long as I play, she will be my #1.

If either of you two are curious, I know a kid who's dad is currently out of work (epileptic seizure while driving a semi), but the kid is just incredibly musically talented. He's 15 (I believe) and plays piano, drums, and guitar individually better than most who focus on one alone. He's currently reduced to a cheapo strat and some secondhand drum kit.
Just at thought.

MTD ... that's a "too good to be true" instrument.. really.. plays fantastically.... Killer recording bass and live instruement.

My Edwards ED-170BD (or Bardic, if referring to the actual ESP model)
I've only had it for a few months but it is BY FAR the best bass I've owned. The tone it gives me is very versatile and the fact that it came stocked with Basslines PUps, GOTOH Bridge, and Hipshot Ultralite tuners makes it something I will not get rid of. I found this baby on a Japanese auction site for about half of the MSRP price, and I saved about $400-500 from buying new.
