I would like Fender to reissue the Fender/Squier JV series of the early 80s. Jazz, Precision, maple, rosewood and fretless. Built to the same standard as the Japanese versions, but with American pickups.

I'd second all of these (already mentioned the Guild B-301 and -302.) Good call on the Ampegs. I used to see those fairly often back in the late 70s to early 80s. Not so much any more!

Are the Dan Armstrong plexis in production at the moment?

I'm not sure if plexis are still being made. The bassist in my band years ago played one. Odd neck profile, wide and flat in the back. I didn't like it, but it sounded okay.

A piece right out of the 1990 Ibanez catalog. I have the exact same pickups and electronics in my SDGR.
I always thought these were Awesome!.

My Bro-in-Law has one in black (thew some DR Black Beauties on it)... it sure is light...other than that it's pretty unremarkable.

I'd buy one of these basses on the spot!

Fernandes gravity. these basses are now a little rare to find. you can only find them on ebay, craig's list (if you're lucky to find one there), and the fernandes guitar shop(which is on their website). I own one and it sounds totally awesome. fernandes should continue making these basses. I do feel that they are underrated.

I've seen those basses before. I had a friend who had one of these basses. I haven't played one, but it looked pretty cool. and I remember there was a gig I've done where the bass player of one of the bands I've played with had a bass like that. it sounded pretty cool. he had kind of a p-bass like sound from that bass and I would assume that it was passive. other than that, it's an interesting looking bass. and it would be cool if Ibanez would reissue these basses. I would like to see a 5-string version of that bass.

Some day after Hartley Peavey passes on, we may actually see these venerable designs come back. Perhaps a little lighter this time, eh?

Haha, yeah it is funny how things come and go.
I just thought of another bass model that has both been introduced (under special circumstances) and discontinued (sadly) between 2008 and now, namely the Gretsch G5123B. I am absoulutely convinced that the Gretsch hollow body will be a popular model to bring up in future threads like this one...

I would like to see Gibson, in a departure from their corporate slug mentality, sell Mike Tobias' brand name back to him (say, for $1), and allow Mike to build his original designs for customers again.

There are really two parts to this. Gibson is really never going to use that brand for anything not laughable. Mike ought to be able to use his headstock and name on his MTD's. Mike also could offer the original designs on a custom basis. That would be the correct business ending to that saga. IMO

I owned a couple (more-or-less identical) T-40s back around 1980-82. Looked just like the one pictured. Lighter would be nice, but to be honest I think my first wish for an updated T-40 would be to eliminate the pickguard and do a rear-routed version. Always thought that plastic pickguard just cheapified the entire instrument, both visually and tactiley.

And get the logo off the bridge while you're at it.

I'm sort of surprised that there has not (to my knowledge) been an American reissue of the early single coil Precision. A slab bodied AVRI 51 P-bass seems like a no brainer, as does a mid fifties contour body reissue. They told a ton of Sting signature basses, AVRI models seem like the next logical step.

Ernie Ball should consider a reissue of the Cutlass basses. While they are at it they should introduce the Cutlass III, a Sterling model with graphite neck. Now that's a bass I would buy.

I know it's not much different from anything that's currently, but a Fender AVRI 70s P Bass: 70s headstock logo, tinted neck and fingerboard, black pickguard, 70s finishes like mocha. You could probably build a tribute pretty easily, but who's got time for that?
