Bassist behind Usher @ Halftime Super Bowl 58

Did anyone catch the halftime show at Super Bowl LVIII and see the brief shots of the backline behind Usher? )for the brief period there was a visible band behind him). The bass was white, had a body somewhat like a Fender, but had a Fodera - like headstock. I'm not sure and nobody will allow me to touch the TV and back up to review. Heading to YouTube now to see if I can catch a replay.

I preferred the band and guy that played a Fodera on the "Booze Cruise" episode of the Office more than the half time show tonight lol. Not like there was any instrument played live during either. Just me though, and I shall await the slaughter that will probably come from me posting this knowing how TB is these days.

I was impressed that I thought I was listening to a saxaphone lead until she came strutting out from the line-up. There was a sax player in the line up, but she was very obviously playing the lead on her Strat. I enjoyed that part.

Nobody plays live on the Superbowl halftime show. Not Springsteen, not the Rolling Stones, not this year's lineup. The producers won't allow it.

Agree that H.E.R. had a strange Strat tone, but I figure it was just how she (or someone) wanted it.

As for the bass, I didn't hear anything or see any playing I was interested in, I just got a couple glimpses of the bass and wondered what a guy in a Super Bowl halftime show would use as a prop

Nobody plays live on the Superbowl halftime show. Not Springsteen, not the Rolling Stones, not this year's lineup. The producers won't allow it.

Nope. They have something like 12 minutes to get setup, 18 minutes to perform, and 12 minutes to clear the field. So they can't risk any technical issues. The whole show is pre-recorded and will go on regardless.

I just didn't get the third rate Micheal Jackson impersonator as a halftime show. At least Jackson had cool catchy music.

Yeah that's a Fodera Monarch. Which is pretty unusual for him; I mainly know him from playing a 5-string Stingray or a 5-string Jazz Ultra.

Everyone does. But the technical demands and what the NFL wants you to see/hear simply don't allow for it. Like was posted above, can't take the risk. I do like H.E.R. though. Best (and shortest) part of the show. Sadly, she was kust costume change music for Usher.

That definitely looks like the body, but is definitely not the same pickup configuration.

Except the Lifeson strat had a bucker at the bridge position.

Sound and mix were terrible. I cranked my TV and vocals were still buried. If this is pre recorded, then why so bad?
