Bassists are an arrogant bunch.

Hi

Your statement is very generalizing
sorry if you got hurt, but don t spit your poison all over.

I see you like rock and metal in your profile, and "some Jazz", thats cool, whatever
Look at the thread, "Whats your perfect album" or something, you will see that about 80% of TBers are into rock and metal more than anything else and my experience is that everyone is pretty tolerant of others and different styles

BTW talking about arrogance I m quoting your profile here:
"Hobbies and interests : ...ME... "??? Dude please give us a break...

I'm not actually serious about that haha. :D

I'm probably the least arrogant person you'll ever meet.

Actually a few of your posts/threads have been very troll like in nature. Seeing as you`re new I`m quite skeptical about your intentions here.

Thanks for that...........

I'm not a troll. I like this forum and I plan on staying here for a while. I like the fact that if I have a question about something or advice or whatever, I can come here and talk about it. Also, why would I take the time to fill out my profile if I were a troll??

Whatever. I take that quite offensively, just the same as everyone else has taken a simple observation offensively.

:atoz:

And text on a screen strikes again. Some people get you, some people think you're a troll. Welcome to TB. Just like the rest of the world, everyone has their own opinions because opinions are like posteriors.

This thread has reached it's inevitable, obvious conclusion - from here on out the same points, opinions, arrogance and lack thereof will just circulate and be rehashed in a different combination of words by a different person.

I think there may be a nugget of truth in the original, pre-edited post: There are some things that folks get *very* worked up about on this list. Should I name a few? :p

* Any Fender over 10 years old is precious and "vintage"!
* Flatwounds sound GREAT!! Really! They aren't muddy - they're Vintage!!
* Tubes are always better than solid state. Always!
* A "reliced" instrument isn't just beat up or poser - it's NeoVintage! Really!

That said, I've only seen a few things were there appears to be ZERO tolerance for discussion (debating the merits of a certain female bassist leaps to mind...) - everything else seems to be fair game, so long as folks are polite and reasonable.

What threads/posts besides this one are you speaking of anyway??

Couldn`t tell you off the top of my head. All I remember was a month or two ago coming across something you wrote that sounded completely bizarre and trollish. The reason I remember it being you is because you share a similar name with another TB member and I first thought you were him and that what "he" had written was very out of character.

Add that past experience with a thread stating bassists are arrogant on a bassist forum just screams troll - even if your intentions originally were for humor or something else. If someone who`s an old member started a similar thread I`d know it was a joke and would quickly join and say "yeah we are ;)", but seeing as you`ve only been here for a few months it shouldn`t surprise you that such a statement would be met unpleasantly.

I can't believe you guys are THAT offended over this. I'm saying that I noticed in the few months I've been here that there are some seriously arrogant, dismissive people here. Not EVERYONE. I've gotten alot fo help from people, and those people all seemed very friendly.

What the entire point of this was that I noticed some serious arrogance in different places, and I thought it a bit ironic, considering how we bassists feel about guitarists and their arrogance.

Way to make a guy feel unwelcome.

To paraphrase Depeche Mode...

Wow. I can't believe i just paraphrased Depeche Mode!!!!! :hiding:

I don't wanna sound gay or nuthin', but I think Depeche Mode are kickass!!!
