Bassists that sing???

How about Timothy B. Schmidt of The Eagles? He's got a great voice. Just think "I Can't Tell You Why".

Colin Moulding of XTC sings along with Andy Partridge.

And, in the progressive vein we have John Wetton (Asia, UK among others), Greg Lake, John Payne (current lead vocalist for Asia), and Chris Squire (Yes) who is constantly harmonizing with Jon Anderson.

And, who could forget Mr. Superfreak himself, Rick James!

Hey! Nobody mentioned Bianca Butthole, even though she was recently featured in Bass Player mag.!

Actually, I've never heard Betty Blowtorch, but all the bassists I like that sing in "big" bands have been mentioned.

I don't think Lenny Kravitz usually plays bass and sings. I think he usually plays guitar and sings. Now if he plays guitar, sings, and plays bass all at the same time, well, I've gotta see it.

James Dewar suffered brain damage during an operation and requires full-time care. You can read all about him on Robin Trower's site. I really liked his stuff. I do have a Robin Trower album that featured him on vocals and Rustee Allen on bass. Very cool, but I like James' bass playing too.

I know Doug Pinnick's been mentioned, but his 12-string playing just knocks me out. Also his insanely detuned stuff on Mr. Bulbous.
