Bassman combo

hi all
has anyone here ever used/owned a Fender Bassman® 250 / 210 Combo?
I have a Ric 4003 and am looking for a 500$ combo amp that will make it sound good. Please don't give me other suggestions of amps, just tell me if this one is good or if it sucks (since eveyone suggests a different amp anyways, it's just useless!)

Currently, I'm playing a 210 combo and it does a pretty good job. I play in a 3pc. band and I haven't had much of a need to mic the amp. There have been a couple of outdoor gigs where it does come in handy, though, and I use the onboard output to the PA. Its also really nice for direct line recording into the 4 track or whatever. Currently, I've only had two things that were a concern to me. On a hotter night during an outdoor gig, the amp got kind of hot, and the volume would swell. I adjusted my outputs since that night, and haven't had the problem since.

The biggest thing I would suggest, however, would be to watch the casters. the screws on mine stripped out kind of quickly, and I ended up spending a couple of bucks and replacing the screws with coarser thread, larger diameter screws.

There's a local bassist using one.
He's in a loud, top-40, 4 pcs., rock group. He uses a passive Fender 4 string.
He always has P.A. support.
I've set-in with his group and the 2-10 Bassman sounds "very" good in the near-field. It doesn't have alot of projection, so for a on stage monitor it works very well.
In all honesty, I've not encountered any manufacturer's 2-10 cab or combo that was more than a small gig/small room amp, or one that could be used as more than a near-field monitor.
