Just buy a copy of GuitarPro for about $60 AUD, then search and download the GP5 tabs from torrent sites or off the Russian sites.

But act fast!!!!! With people outlawing information sharing for musicians, it's only a matter of time before they outlaw information sharing based on risk of copyright infringement altogether, and then the Internet as a whole will cease to exist!! :hiding:

mypowertabs.net is still up. Requires the download of Power Tab but it's actually better cause you get the notation and tab, and it'll play the tab as a midi file.

I can't believe they're doing this. This is ridiculous. I would like an explanation of how people using tab to learn a song are a threat to the original artist. I signed the petition, I hope everyone else did as well.

I only go to http://ultimate-guitar.com/ now. They posted an article sometime ago saying that they can't be shut down because they are based in Russia. I hope this is true.

Edit: I forgot to tell that if you go to yahoo.com and type "dani california bassmasta.net tab" or any other site, then click search and when you see the results click on "cached" and the tab will appear.

non profit tab sites having to remove **** is ridiculous. Are there any legal minds that can give their input on this? I'm kinda curious as to how the whole "fair use" issue comes into this. Film is fair game as long as it is used for education, non-profit, or criticism. How can bass tabs not be covered? Maybe I'm ignorant...anyone know?

rediculus, it's all these lawyers and legal bull****. Ultimate guitar is our only option now but their tabs aren't as accurate and they don't have as many but now since they're the only popular one left than i guess more people will be submitting tabs there. Couldn't of happened at a worse time though, i was in the middle of learning the pulling teeth bass solo and yyz. If anybody has these tabs could you pm me though?

Check out 911tabs.com

Search for you favorite band, it will come up with all song names. When you click on song names, it will bring up links to different websites.

Some of the links are to web sites that have been shut down, but I'm still getting results from other sites.

Tabs have been a real boon for bar bands that want to quickly get a song into their set. And despite the way we used to do it ie. "the old fashioned way", the crack down on tabs is ridiculous. Especially since most are clearly marked as an interpretation of the song by the person doing the tabbing.

I think it will either go underground or off shore until these friggin' lawyers figure out we're not going to pay $20 for a "guess" at how the song goes. For $20 bucks a song I want the author to come over to the house and show me in person...lol

I hope these guys that ran the sites like Bassmasta had archived the tabs and give them to some Russian site rather than just give up. I doubt they have the legal resources that the publishers have, but it does seem a stretch of the fair use act.

what' rediculas is that mxtabs (another tabbing site) was affiliated with sputnik music that's a site that sells tab books and mxtabs still got closed because of some tight ass business ceo who owned some rights wanted to squeeze all the money he could get out of them. There was always a demand for tab books but these guys want too make more money even though they probably make enough. What's weird is that they're in the music industry but they're hurting it.

While I dont nessecarily advocate the use of Tabs, I do not believe they infringe upon music publishers or that they should be illegal for whatever reason. I have used tabs plenty of times, but deffinetley realize that one learns far more when a song is learned by ear. The problem associated with this is that there is a bigger issue at stake. If free tabs are illegal whats next? It sets a precedent. Downloading music "illegally" has not gone away because the people who have made it available are very sophisticated and the demand is outrageous, but the same can not really be said about tabs I dont think. The music industry is pissed because to be perfectly honest it took advantage of the population by force feeding them crap for years and now that the internet has started putting power back back in the hands of listeners (the best of whom are musicians of all skill levels) and the outrageous profits that you used to be garnered are now somewhat more modest, but still by no means poor. If this continues without resistance who knows where it will end. What about all the pictures one can save onto their computers, the quotes saved in peoples footers and myspace accounts, what about everything on Wikipedia....where does this end.
