Basson Amps

i am currently looking into buying the Basson B810B and cannot figure out which bass head i should buy to compliment its low but aggressive tones. please help me figure this out b4 i buy the wrong bass head.

First, you need to start going to the gym because that monstrosity weighs 230 lbs!

At the kind of wattage that thing needs (seriously, it is really ****ing power hungry) the only bass head I can think of that produces that kind of wattage is the Carvin B1500. If not one of those, then you should probably look into a preamp/poweramp setup with your favorite preamp (one of the Ampeg tube pres?) and the highest wattage poweramp you can afford.

i know the weight is rediculously heavy. its gonna suck but it would be cheaper than buying 2 4x10 cabs. i love the basson sound so im in a quite a pickle huh.. im gonna take a look into power amps

Try the Crown XTi 4000 series power amps. Ridiculous power and barely 20 lbs. Then get yourself a preamp of choice, probably an Ampeg SVTP.

i heard of them from a buddy of mine, than went to a guitar center who had one in stoke. played it and loved it.. though i only played through the 4x10

Tube amp? Any 300 watt tube amp would be sufficient. Those cabs are great if you play 5 string as they are flat to 28 hz supposedly

I own one and tour with it. Right now I'm running a QSC 2450 (2400 watts) power amp + pre amp. The cab probably needs 2000 watts, at least 1500 or you'll clip your amp. I'll warn you though, it's a beast to move. I'm young and pretty large with a strong back, but that doesn't make a whole lot of difference because it's just hard to handle. If you love the sound then you'll figure it out, though.

As far as the amp goes, I would go with power amp + pre amp.

If you've only played through the 410, you may find the 810 is voiced differently. I know that's true concerning Ampeg cabs, just so you know.
