Well I did not even know about the site till members invited me saying I'd be a great fit. SO I go and dive in and banned in 12 hours I mean really? To be banned in that short time frame and having not even broken any rules. Then the funny thing was watching the guys who were glade to see me there listen to Ed and start agreeing it was best for the forum and everyone involved even me. Like a regime that declares a new policy, the plebs fall all over themselves to agree because they know they have to.

So ya that forum is gone and I am not surprised. The experience did make me appreciate this place ten fold so there was an up side.

I love the use of "they" by folks that were never members, or bailed after a couple of days at the very beginning like all of us ran away or got kicked off of here. Let's see... I can specifically remember only 4 permanent bans. Might have been a couple more. Most of us just either stopped coming here, or stopped posting in OT because we had an OT section there with some more relaxed rules. Sure, some rage quits, and some trolling by a couple, but that happens here, and in every forum regularly.

The forum didn't fail, boys and girls; the owner's mental health did.

Oh, it's happened a few times......

But let's just review what we've seen in this thread as it related to BT:

-An owner that had a massive, public rage quit
-A group of grown men starting a "bois" club with the specific intent of trolling the web site
-Mass dissension among the founding members
-Members on both sides of the political aisle finding their views weren't welcome by various mods.
-Members being banned outright based on their "alternative" views, despite claims of openness.
-Entire threads dedicated to humiliating a single TB member (I'm torn with this one...)
-Bewbs

I understand some of you were invested in this website and may be a bit opinionated about it, but to claim that it's failing was solely related to the possible mental health issues of the owner seems disingenuous given what I've summarized above. Remember....most of the members there...especially the founding members, were well known here. Their motives, attitudes and actions are known well to most here, even if we didn't participate in the new site.

Most of your summary above is inaccurate. I should point out there are more than a few perspectives that you wont get here, because theyre banned or choose not to post here.

Ill say it one more time: dont believe everything you read.

It's of note that a number of active members have posted opposition to your views of the site, which had been referenced but not explained.

My summation, whether the original points were completely accurate or not, does point to a much larger issue than the mental health of a single person. Your elusive contradictions of other active members opinions of that site actually serves to bolster that point. ;)

Amongst the team, perhaps, but they were united against anyone not in the team with whom they disagreed politically.
Ed told me in a private email that my political views were too far to the right for them and that I should just be quiet.

I'd be interested to know how you think that a team of people with views across the entire range of political viewpoints as previously described would be united against someone with whom they disagreed politically, given that they didn't agree with each others politics?

Which might lead one to the conclusion that what the team were united by in specific instances wasn't politics.

Because Ed specifically called out my politics as a sore point. Sorry, Martin, but you will not change my mind. There were one or two I liked and still miss, but overall, it was an online frat party and interlopers where only tolerated.

Then your problem was with Ed, not the mod team.

The political discussions there (at least the ones I'm familiar with before my hissy quit) were for the ages. It's funny that people say they were banned for being too far right when in my view, most members there were centrists, with a few leaning right and left, and a few WAY right or left. Kind of like a certain country's population.

One of my favorite features of BT247 was the existence of political and belief discussion threads that even members with no money could participate in, as opposed to limiting those types of discussions to people who can pay for it.*

*I only visited the Lobby here a few times when I could afford to be a supporting member and it was a ghost town compared to the Serious OT side there.
