My favorite preamp. Sounds a lot like an Alembic to me. If I didn't go smaller I would still be using it. We all have a tone in are heads and this preamp came as close to it as I ever found. Full, yet clear. Whoever picks one up, I hope they enjoy it.

  4. Made in China, these are not like the older US made models.

Has BBE stopped making these? Is this stock being liquidated?

Yes, I see it is still on the website, but I also noticed MF and a few other places that previously carried them no longer do. That combined with the additional $50 price drop made me wonder if this had been discontinued...

  8. I suppose it wouldn't be the first time a company has something unavailable listed on their website.

I finally picked one up @ the $199 tag, and I'm glad I did.

This pre's transient attack is similar to my Glockenklang and has a wide, deep response that reminds me of my old Alembic F-1X.

For the price, this blows me away.

It has a long release. I'm not sure what the ratio is, but it can get heavy-handed. I plucked hard until it was spiking, then backed it off one notch. The result was subtle and smooth - well, to my ears, anyway.
