BBE DI-100x opinions

image.jpeg
Nothing?

depends what you want it to do?

I'm not sure but maybe use as a live di-box.
I don't really get what the sonic maximizer will do to 'clean up' my sound, as the manual puts it. To my ears it just seems to add loudness and I'm thinking there's better more flexible ways of eq'ing my tone.
But I thought I might have missed something having to do with phase correcting frequencies.

Most "pros" consider the BBE to be a toy... they mask underlying issues with a sound source by correcting phase and other (unpublished) things.. which SHOULD be corrected at source.
I have a BBE in my HOME rack - for back when I used to JAM with the guys using headphones - it's never been out in public.

I've seen them used in guitar rigs (never a bass rig) and in PA systems.
Guitars? meh!
PA's? No self respecting SE will go near one... and seeing them in a rack tells me the PA's "owner" is not up to spec.

If you want to put one in your rig.. go for it, but don't expect any love from an FOH SE.

If you want a REAL DI, get a [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] JDI, countryman or even something as basic as a Whirlwind EDB1.

Thanks. I kind of had that impression of the unit but I've never really tested it. Got it in some kind of trade many years ago and now that I found again I thougt I should give it a real try. But after serching the net and getting these impressions I think I'll stick to my regular line box and Diamond Bass compressor as well as the Xotic RC booster for clean boost and sound improvement.
It's built like a tank though so it could have fooled me :)
